Everything Your Heart Desires Chapter 12 Cheryl looked up, her cheeks still a bright pink, and saw her roommate standing in the doorway. “Busted?” Kristy asked as she surveyed the scene in Cheryl’s room. Cheryl nodded guiltily. “You too?” Kristy shrugged and sighed, “Yeah.” Although she sounded dejected, Cheryl noted that her friend sure didn’t look upset about it. Kevin appeared in the doorway and wrapped his arms around Kristy from behind, her smile brightening as she leaned back against him. “C’mon.” Kevin said, taking her hand and gently pulling her from the room. “We still have very important work to do.” Kristy paused slightly, her brow creased in confusion. “We have to get your bed set up,” he said softly so only she could hear him. Although the others didn’t hear Kevin’s part of the exchange, they all saw Kristy’s eyes widen and heard her soft giggle before they left the room. “Who was that and what did you guys do with Kev?” Polly asked her brothers. From the short time she’d been around Kevin and Kristy, she’d quickly come to see how happy they seemed to be together. “Amazing, isn’t it?” Howie chuckled as he wrapped his arms around Cheryl like Kevin had done with Kristy. Howie was definitely enjoying himself, but he couldn’t remember ever seeing Kevin smile as much as he had in the last few days. “Disgusting is more like it.” Tim commented as he stepped in the room, shaking his head. “Please don’t make me stay in there with them!” he pleaded to the group. “If they’re not kissing or hugging, they’re flirting and sending each other these ‘looks’... it’s enough to make ya ill,” he grumbled. Polly looked from Tim to her two brothers and quirked an eyebrow, a smile playing on her lips. “You’re right. He is a sore looser.” “Hey! I resemble that remark!” Tim protested with a smile. “But there are a couple of bright spots about this whole thing.” “Oh, this should be good,” John chuckled, waiting to hear his friend’s rational. “For one, Kevin is vastly more entertaining with Kristy around.” “How so?” Cheryl asked, amused by the turn of the conversation, and somewhat thankful that her poster was temporarily forgotten. “A little while ago we were moving Kristy’s computer desk, when Kevin dropped it on his foot.” “Why?” Howie prompted. “Because of something Kristy was doing.” Tim smiled, enjoying his audience’s reaction. “OK, I’ll bite,” Polly giggled. “What was she doing?” “She was unpacking and folding these silky little panties and bras...” “How little?” Howie asked, to which Cheryl smacked him in the arm. “Sorry sweetie, old habits die hard,” he grinned sheepishly as he kissed her softly. John arched an eyebrow and smirked. “Don’t let Kevin hear you making comments like that! So what’re the other ‘bright spots’... besides watching your brother inflict pain on himself?” he asked. “My birthday is coming up and I should be getting one hell of a present from Kevin... that boy owes me big time!”The girls convinced Polly to stay and ordered pizzas for their work crew. The three girls were soon chatting and laughing like old friends, at times forgetting the guys were even there... despite the fact that for most of the evening Cheryl and Howie shared her pappizan chair and Kristy was cuddling with Kevin in her "snuggle chair". Howie decided he’d been “neglected” long enough and, after excusing himself, pulled Cheryl into the downstairs powder room as she walked by. “Howard Dorough! What are you doing?” she giggled as Howie shut the door behind them, leaving the light off. “I’m feeling ignored,” he pouted, his breath warm on her face. Cheryl’s eyes adjusted to the darkness and she smiled back at the handsome face that was only inches from hers. “Well... we can’t have that, now can we?” She leaned into him a bit. “What do you suggest?” “I thought you’d never ask,” Howie chuckled as he drew her lips to his for a long, thorough kiss. Cheryl was thankful that he’d backed her up to the door, because as the kiss continued, she was depending more and more on the strong wood’s stability. Howie knew he’d worked hard that day, but suspected that moving furniture wasn’t why he suddenly felt so weak. He heard himself moan softly as Cheryl shifted in his arms, pressing herself closer to his body. With a great deal of effort and an equal amount of reluctance, Howie pulled away from the kiss, his breathing uneven in his ears. "Wow," Cheryl murmured, resting her cheek on his shoulder. Howie smiled as he absent-mindedly traced random patterns on her back with his hands. Between his kisses and now this gentle touch, Cheryl was having difficulty thinking clearly. She lifted her head and looked into Howie's soft brown eyes, clear and warm, even in the darkness of the small room. "Think anyone's missed us yet?" Howie smiled as he tucked a stray strand of red hair behind her ear. "Let 'em," he said as he pulled her close for another leisurely kiss.In the kitchen, Kevin helped Kristy finish cleaning up. She turned to him as the last glass was put away and draped her arms around his neck. "I think I'll keep you around." A smile tugged at Kevin's lips and glimmered in his deep green eyes. "Oh? Any reason in particular?" Kristy nodded as if she'd thought about the issue for a long time, and had finally come to her conclusion. "You move furniture, help with the dishes, dance a mean hula..." she giggled as he cringed with the last comment. Kevin leaned his head forward and brushed his mouth across hers. "And, you're a pretty good kisser," she whispered against his lips. Kevin pulled her closer to him and kissed her with a distinct hunger. Kristy wrapped her arms around him tighter, partially to get closer to him and partially for balance. Kevin let his hands roam across her back to her sides and then down to her waist. With one fluid motion, Kevin lifted Kristy and set her on the counter, causing her to softly gasp in surprise. Kevin smiled as he continued the passionate kiss, his body acutely aware of Kristy's nearness. He moved his head and traced a path of hot kisses across her cheek and down to her neck. Kristy tilted her head to allow him better access, her eyes closed in ecstasy and her hands buried in his thick black hair. Kevin brought his mouth back to Kristy's, his only thoughts being of the woman in front of him. Kristy moaned softly as Kevin's tongue parted her lips and slipped deep into her mouth, and she soon followed his lead. "Have you guys seen... Whoa!" John turned and quickly exited the kitchen, embarrassed to have interrupted the steamy scene. John wandered back into the livingroom, a wry smile on his handsome face. "Hey John," Tim said as he also returned to the large room. "I think I figured out where Howie and Cheryl are," he chuckled. He'd been heading downstairs as he saw the bathroom door open and Cheryl get pulled inside. "Yeah? Well I KNOW where Kevin and Kristy are," John said as he nodded to the kitchen. "But I wouldn't recommend going in there... I'm not sure your stomach could take it. I'm actually surprised they haven't set off the smoke detector in there!" Polly bit back a smile as the two couples both entered the room, all looking very happy and slightly disoriented. "Guys," she said, directing her comments to Tim and John. "I think this is where we say goodnight."Next: Chapter 13 |
