Everything Your Heart Desires Chapter 15 "Hey, Kris," Cheryl called her friend away from Kevin’s attentions. "What’s up?" Cheryl eyed the rack in front of her then glanced at the five men across the room. "I have an idea." Kristy grinned evilly. She knew the glint in her friend’s eye meant two things – a plan was brewing and only mischief would follow."What are the girls doing?" Brian asked, his curiosity piqued. Nick’s face contorted with nervousness. "I don’t know, but I don’t like the look we just got." "There’s no need to worry, Kaos. They aren’t violent or anything." Kevin tried to assure his younger friend. "Uh, Kev, how many things did he do today that pissed them off – even a little?" A.J. reminded. Kevin and Howie shook their heads. "Been nice knowing you, Nicky," the latter said, placing a hand on the man’s shoulder. Nick swallowed hard. "Damn."Fifteen minutes later, Kristy and Cheryl rejoined the guys outside the shop. "Okay, we’d like to make some presentations," Kristy started reaching into the bag she held. "Mouse ears," Cheryl said gleefully. Nick exhaled the breath he’d held. ‘Mouse ears.’ "Now rather than have your names written on the back, we gave everyone a mouseketeer name inspired by ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’." She turned to A.J. "I christen you – Crazy." Cheryl took the hat from Kristy and, in a manner befitting royal coronation, placed it on A.J.’s head. "Bri… I dub thee – Jokey," Kristy announced as Cheryl repeated the process. "Hey, wasn’t he a Smurf?" the honoree asked. The group smiled. "It fits, Frick," Nick cracked. "Which brings us to Nick…" The gleam of evil in the two pairs of hazel eyes brightened. "We were going to go with D.A. but that ruined the theme so…" "Smarty it is." Nick’s cheeks grew red from embarrassment as Cheryl crowned him. The women then each grabbed the last hats from the bag. "D," Cheryl motioned him forward. "Here you go… Sweetie." She kissed him after his coronation. Kristy smiled as Kevin leaned down to accept his ears. "Sexy." "Hey now, this is a family theme park. Is that appropriate?" he asked. "Not everything Disney has to have a G rating," she answered. "Am I sensual?" Brian sang the censored version of "Everybody" from the Backstreet Boys "In Concert" special that aired on the Disney Channel. "Point well-taken." Not to be outdone, the five men disappeared back into the shop and returned a few minutes later with similar ears for the girls. Brian began, "We could think of only two words to describe you two." "Thus we give the world…" A.J. continued. "Spunky," Nick said as Kevin presented Kristy with her ears. "And Sparky." Howie placed the beanie atop Cheryl’s head.Once everyone had become mouseketeers and after they enlisted a passerby to take a few snapshots, the seven adults returned back to Fantasyland, where Brian and Nick insisted upon riding "It’s a Small World." Exiting the ride, the pair continued to sing the theme song – off-key and in languages not yet invented. "Would you two STOP?" A.J. requested, covering his ears. "We love you too, Bone," they chorused. "Ooh... Howie... Pooh," Cheryl said excitedly, pulling his arm toward Disney’s new addition, "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh." "En ingles por favor," he said with a smile. "Vamos," she replied. "Por favor, mi amigo." "Si." "Dammit, Frack, see what you started," A.J. whined. "You too, Frick." This time after exiting, Kristy and Cheryl joined Brian and Nick’s sing-a-long.Winnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh Chubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff He’s Winnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh Willy, nilly, silly old bear "I’ve died and gone to hell," A.J. complained. "Not from where I’m standing," Howie disagreed watching Cheryl laugh at something Brian said. A.J. once again marveled at the look on his best friend’s face. "She’s great, D. I wish you guys the best." "Thanks, Bone." "Listen, I’ll get Jokey and Smarty out of your hair. You guys have fun." True to his promise, A.J. corralled Brian and Nick and after goodbye hugs and a few secret handshakes, the trio left the two couples alone for the rest of the night. "Ah, silence," Kevin sighed. "Yeah, it was nice meeting the other guys, but I’d rather it was just you and me, Sexy." "Oh, so that nickname is going to stick, eh, Spunky?" "I just think it’s appropriate." "Where to now?" Kevin asked. "Well, Sparky here wants to hit the Tiki Room," Howie mentioned. "Another annoying song…" Kevin’s resolve melted away after seeing the pleading look in Kristy’s beautiful eyes. "Oh, alright. And stop with eyes already." He put his arm around her waist as they all made a left at the Mickey and Walt statue heading back to Adventureland.Just before midnight, the couples sat along Main Street, U.S.A. awaiting the fireworks like the rest of the crowd. They had spent the rest of the night in Mickey’s Toontown Fair and returning to their favorite rides like Space Mountain and the Haunted Mansion – twice! Howie took Cheryl’s hand in his as they watched the people scurry for the best seats. "Did you enjoy today?" She sighed and rested her head on his shoulder. "Mhmmm." Kevin pulled Kristy closer. "How about you, Angel?" "It was perfect, Kev." She momentarily thought about work and how much she and her roommate would miss days like the one they had just experienced. ‘Enjoy it now. Soon vacation will be over and you’ll only have nights and weekends until they go on tour.’ "What’s the matter, Princess?" "Just thinking." "About?" "Nothing that’s important right now." She snuggled against his shoulder as the first pop was heard and green and blue bursts lit up the Cinderella’s Castle. "Happy New Year!?" Kevin teased remembering the night of their first kiss. His lips found hers and the couple kissed softly. A few feet away, Cheryl and Howie leaned against a lamp post sharing their own kiss. "Why is it that every time I kiss you it feels like fireworks are exploding?" she asked. Howie shrugged. "I don’t know, SPARKY. You tell me." He leaned in for another thorough kiss.Next: Chapter 16 |
