Going Home Chapter 10 "OK, guys! Dinner!" Erika called tot he three sitting in the living room. "Coming, sweetie!" Lance called back and followed Kim and Nick into the kitchen. Erika was putting the food on the table. She decided to prepare a home cooked meal for everyone. Dinner was grilled chicken, angel hair pasta with garlic and olive oil, steamed vegetables, and a tossed salad. "Everything looks great, Erika," Kim told her friend, sitting down next to Nick. "I love your cooking, Erika. Did you bake anything for us for dessert?" Nick asked. Erika took her seat next to Lance and smiled at Nick. "Yes, Nicky, I made your favorite chocolate chip cookies." "Yes! I totally love you," Nick told her. Lance looked at Erika and smiled. "So, you’re the total domestic type, huh?" "Yup! I wanna be the next June Cleaver!" Erika replied, laughing. "I even have my wedding planned already and my children’s names picked." Kim looked up from her meal. "Are you serious? Tell me!" "OK, my wedding will be in November. That way I can have a huge wedding dress...totally Cinderella. I want to get married in a huge church with lots of attendants and tons of flowers. The reception will be huge and dinner will be chicken, cause I don’t like beef. The honeymoon will be in Hawaii. And I have four names picked: Ashley Elizabeth, Jessica Michelle, Andrew Michael, and Nicholas William," Erika stated. Lance laughed. "You sure are prepared. Ever given any thought to a husband?" Erika ducked her head shyly. "Lately I have," she said in a voice below a whisper. Kim’s head whipped up. Had she heard Erika right? She would definitely have to talk to her about that later. The couples finished dinner and Kim and Nick went into the rec room to pick out a movie while Lance helped Erika clean up the kitchen. She was up to her elbows in hot, soapy water when Lance decided to wrap his arms around her. "How’s thing’s going?" Erika giggled because his warm breath in her ear tickled. "Fine," she said, and turned in his arms. She was holding her hands up, trying not to drip water on Lance. "You are just too cute," she told him. "So are you," he replied softly and bent his head to hers to kiss her. The kiss made her knees go weak and she had to brace herself against the kitchen sink. She even forgot that she had soapy hands, so when she placed them on his chest, he jumped back, breaking their kiss. Erika started laughing. "I am so sorry. I just seem to forget things when I kiss you." Lance smiled and looked down at his gray tee-shirt, which now had two hand prints on the front of it. "Now look what you’ve done! OK, I want my apology," he told her, stepping closer. "What apology?" Erika asked innocently. "I didn’t do anything!" Erika dropped behind the kitchen table and continued walking away from him. "Oh no you don’t!" Lance said and grabbed a cup of water. "Don’t event think about it! I’ll kill you, I will so kill you!" Erika told him. She opened the patio door and walked outside. Lance followed her out and onto the deck of the pool. She backed up as far as she could and found herself face to face with Lance and his cup of water. "Please, Lance. Don’t..." It was too late, she had water dripping down her face. "OK, OK, I guess I deserved that. Truce?" she asked, holding her arms out to him. "Truce," he said and kissed her. While the couple was kissing, Erika slowly turned them around so that Lance was on the edge of the deck. Slowly, she reached up and placed her hands on his chest, giving him a strong push into the pool. Lance came up sputtering. "You little..." he trailed off, giving her the evil eye. "All right! Fine, you big baby. Give me your hand and I’ll pull you out," Erika told him and held her hand out to him. Lance reached out and took her hand, "Thank you," he said, then pulled her into the pool with him. Erika’s head broke the surface and she pushed her hair back. "I hate you!" she yelled, splashing him. Lance splashed back. Soon they were in a major water fight, screaming and laughing. "What the hell’s going on out here?" Nick asked, him and Kim walking out onto the deck. Erika and Lance stopped splashing and looked sheepishly at them. "Nothing...well, I pushed Lance in and then he pulled me in with him. Nick, come here and help me out." Nick and Kim approached the pool’s edge. Nick held out his hand to Erika. She reached up for it and pulled him toward the pool. Just as he was falling over the edge, he grabbed Kim’s hand and took her with him. Erika and Lance high-fived each other. "You both suck!" Kim yelled. Nick went to put his arms around her, but she splashed him away. "Get outta here, Carter! If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be all wet!" she yelled and splashed him again. "This means war!" Nick yelled and another water fight ensued.Next: Chapter 11 |
