Going Home Chapter 17 "Hey Kim, it's Erika," Erika said over the phone. "Hey E! What's up? How's everything going?" Kim asked. Erika smiled on the other end of the line. "Wonderful. These last few days have been great. Lance's family is so wonderful. They are so nice. How's thing's at home with you and Nick?" "Good. Great. Exceptionally well. Erika," her voice dropped to a whisper, "we haven't left the house in three days." Erika burst out laughing. "Kim! You and Nicky...three days? Kim!" "Oh shut up. Erika, come on. Stop laughing. Are you telling me that you and Lance wouldn't be doing the came thing given the chance? Or are you two having the chance right now?" Kim asked giggling. "Kim, no! This is his parents house. We're lucky that we get to sleep in the same room together. I think his mom is still having issues with that even though she was the one who told me it was OK," Erika said laughing. Erika heard a voice in the background. "Who are you talking to Kimmy?" "It's Erika," Kim called to Nick. "I wanna talk to her!" He must have grabbed the phone from Kim because the next thing Erika heard was his distinctive voice. "Hey Erika! What's up? How's Mississippi? Are you and Lance doing the nasty in his parents house?" he asked laughing. "Nicky! That is none of your business, although I hear that you and Kim have kept yourselves occupied for the last three days,"she responded giggling. She heard Nick gasp. "Kim, you told her? I thought I told you not to tell her!" He turned his attention back to Erika. "Alright you little brat, what did you call for, besides to find out about my love life?" he asked her. Erika laughed. "Nicky, it's not like I wanted to know you've had sex for the last three days straight. Eww...I still see you as that cute little 12-year-old. Nick, you are like my brother. I totally didn't even want to think about you doing that stuff, especially with my best friend. Gross! Anyway, I called to remind you that our flight leaves Orlando at 4 in the afternoon. Lance's and my flight gets in from Mississippi at 2, so we're gonna stay at the airport so just meet us at the gate. Kevin and Katie are meeting us in Chicago. They're flying in straight from Cancun. Now let me talk to Kim so I can tell her all this cause you're gonna forget." "What do you mean I'll forget?" Nick paused for a moment "OK, you win. I will forget. I'll get Kimmy for you. Bye, miss ya, talk to you later," he said in a rushed voice. Erika laughed as Kim got back on the phone. "Did he just say he misses me/you?" Erika and Kim asked each other at the same time. Kim laughed. "Yeah, I think he did. OK, what's up?" Erika repeated everything she told Nick. Kim said that they would meet them at the gate with the tickets. They said goodbye to each other and waited anxiously for tomorrow to come. Well, tomorrow finally did come and Erika and Lance were saying goodbye to his family. "It was wonderful meeting you all," Erika said, hugging Jim, Diane, Stacy, and Ford. "It was great to meet you too, Erika," came a chorus of voices. Stacy pulled Erika away from the group for a minute. The two women had become fast friends. They had even gone shopping together one afternoon, which is a sacred female tradition. You don't go shopping with just anyone. Stacy hugged her once more. "You really are perfect for my little brother. I know that the both of you lead two totally different lives, you at school and Lance with his group, but I just wanted to tell you that I hope you two can make this work. I talked to him last night. He's so in love with you. I thought that I'd seen him in love before, but this time it's different. This time it's real. So make it work. Besides, I like you so much more than his other girlfriends," Stacy finished with a smile. Erika laughed. "Thanks, but how many other girls has he been in love with?" she asked jokingly. The two laughed as Lance came walking over to them. "What's so funny?" he asked. "Nothing," they said, shaking their heads in unison. He put an arm around Erika and the other around Stacy. "Come on. You're my two favorite girls in the whole wide world. Tell me!" he said smiling. "Should we tell him, Stacy?" "Naw! Let him suffer. You two better head out or you're gonna miss your flight," Stacy said. When she hugged her brother, she whispered, "Keep her, make her happy." Lance pulled away, smiled, and kissed his sister goodbye. He took Erika's hand and led her to the 4runner. Another Chorus of goodbyes and they were on their way to the airport. "Come on, Nick. Get up. We have to leave in like an hour and a half," Kim said, unfortunately not very convincingly. The two were laying in bed after making love for most of the morning. "I don't wanna," Nick whined into her ear. Kim laughed softly and reluctantly pulled away from his warm body. "We have to," she told him, getting out of bed and pulling on her robe. "Your beautiful, Sunshine," Nick told her. "Thank you. I love you, Nick," Kim leaned down and kissed him softly. "Now get your ass out of bed!"Next: Chapter 18 |
