Chapter 1

Lis sat on her bed and stared at her half empty closet, most of her clothes were on the chairs or covering the other side of her bed. Why did her parents have to pick this summer of all the summers to go visit their friends? she asked herself silently.

"Lisa are you going to finish packing?" Her dad asked from the doorway.

"Yeah I just don't know what to take, I've never been to Florida before."

"Just take your summer clothes." Her dad answered and walked away.

Summer clothes, what an idea she said softly. She grabbed the stereo remote from the floor and started blaring her aerosmith cd. Lis sang along while she slowly started going through her clothes, packing some of her favorites.

The alarm clock woke Lisa up. She yawned and rolled over to turn the beeping off. She could all ready hear her parents downstairs having coffee. She hopped out of bed and quickly got ready since she knew they'd have to be at the airport in just under two hours. Lis carried her two suitcases downstairs.

"Morning." Her mom said cheerfully.

"Yeah." Lis said, setting her bags down beside her parents' bags and walked into the kitchen.

Her dad looked at her as she sat down. "You should be happy Lis, Florida has great beaches and you get to spend two months there."

Lis sighed. Of course her parents would think this was a great trip, especially since it would get her away from Boyd her current boyfriend. They never really liked him and when they found out Lis was probably going to go spend a week with a group of friends and him at his parents cabin they sprung this little trip on her. "Oh goody." Lis said sarcastically, taking a sip of her juice.

Half hour later, Lis got into the car and headed to the airport with her parents.

Her mom turned around and looked at Lis who was starting to read her new paperback in the backseat. "You'll have a good vacation I promise."

"Uh huh." Lis replied, turning her discman up louder. There was no way this vacation could turn out good.

~In Florida~

Nick walked around the house in his swim trunks watching his mother finish cleaning the house. He took a drink from his bottled water. "Mom why are you cleaning again?"

Jane set down the laundry basket filled with toys. "Because I don't want Danny and Sheila thinking we're a bunch of slobs." she brushed the hair out of her eyes. "And besides Lis isn't used to having a bunch of kids around her so I doubt she'd be used to the mess."

Nick grinned. "We'll have to initiate her."

"Don't you dare Nickolas Gene Carter. And remember she's older then you are, so..."

"I know I know, respect my elders." Nick smiled innocently and walked out of the room to answer the door.

Brian watched as Nick opened the door. "Hey little bro, ready to shoot some hoops?"

Nick laughed. "When am I not? Hold on I gotta clear it with mom, her and dad's friends are coming in today."

Brian followed Nick inside. "Hmm how long they gonna be in town?" Bri asked observing how orderly the house was.

"Two months. They're just staying her for a few weeks till the condo they rented is free." Nick rolled his eyes and walked into the family room where Jane was picking up more toys.

"Hey Brok." Jane said seeing Brian standing in the doorway.

"Hey Jane." He smiled at her.

"Mom can I shoot hoops with Bri?" Nick asked in a slightly whining voice.

"Be back in two hours. They should be here by then and I thought you could.."

Nick sighed. "Entertain Lis."

"Lis?" Brian asked with interest.

"The daughter." Nick answered, sounding far less then enthused.

"Nick be nice. Its been almost eight years since you've seen her." Jane said. "She's a very sweet girl."

"Translation..." Nick started.

"Come on Frack, you've changed a lot in the five years I've known you. Now lets go before they walk in the door." Bri said tossing the basketball to his friend.

"You want to call the guys and see if their free?" Nick asked, grabbing a shirt from the laundry room.

"Their at the beach with the girls remember?" Bri reminded his friend.

"Oh yeah right." Nick grabbed his car keys from the wall and he and Brian headed out.

Lis sunk into her airplane seat and sighed. Across the aisle her parents were all ready conversing over how great it would be to see the Carters again. Oh yeah, big thrill, Lis thought as she noticed someone sit down next to her. "Han!" She practically yelled at her best friend.

"Whoa girl! Calm down." Han said laughing.

Her dad looked across the aisle and smiled. "Thought you could use some company."

"That's for sure, I don't wanna be forced to hang out with Nicky Carter." Lis made a face.

"Nicky Carter?" Han asked, reaching for a magazine.

"That would be him." Lis rolled her eyes, remembering their last summer together eight years ago. She had a feeling he hadn't changed any. With her luck, there'd be a frog waiting in her bed that night.

"Nickolas Gene Carter?" Hannah asked.

Lis raised an eyebrow. "I suppose why?"

Hannah looked at her friend in shock. She had no idea whatsoever. "Nothing really."

"Ok...anyways its so great your coming with. We can go to the beach together and everything."

And so they chatted through the whole flight to Tampa.
