Then and Now Chapter 14 Nick walked around to where he heard Lis and Han talking. "Hey girls." he said cheerfully. Han and Lis stopped talking and looked at him, causing Nick to feel that he'd interupted something. "I uh well I'll be going." he stammered, turning to go. Lis sighed. "Its ok Nick, we were just talking about Han and..." "Me and my headache." Hannah interupted, giving Lis a dirty look. "Oh that's too bad Han. Just came to tell you that the other girls are all ready inside." Brian walked around the front of the vehicle. "Hey gang!" he grinned at them. "Han you want me to help with your bags? Ang said she'd show you two where your bunking whenever your ready." "Oh really?" Han said sarcastically getting out of Nick's vehicle. Brian raised an eyebrow. "Something wrong Han?" Han sighed. "No everything's fine." Lis looked at Nick. "Where'd you put the bags?" "In the back, didn't move them." Lis nodded and followed Han around to the back to collect their bags, Brian went to go after them but Nick stopped him. "B, something's up." Brian laughed. "Do I want to know?" Nick blushed. "I mean between the girls. I think something's wrong."Krys set her bags down and crashed on her bed. "Oh this is nice, I can stretch out." Jenn looked over. "I know this is nice isn't it." Ang walked back into the room with Aimee and Nina, both carrying a tray of food. "So I thought you guys might need something to snack on." Ang said, sitting on the one armchair. "Very good idea." Aimee said, grabbing a drink and sitting down. Ang looked down at her hands for a second. "The girls Nick brought with, what are they like?" Aimee looked Ang over, she seemed nervous. "Lis and Han? Their great, fun, funny...I think we'll see Nick and Lis get together soon. But something tells me there's a reason you want to know." Ang shifted in the chair. "I'm just protective of Brian that's all." "You haven't been before." Krys said, leaning over the table to grab some popcorn. Ang blushed. "I have been too." "Not that I remember." Nina replied, stretching out on the floor of Krys' room. "Fine maybe I just think Brian looks a little too infatuated." Ang defended. Nick pulled Lis into the cabin, setting the bags down in the hallway. He looked around, saw no one and pulled her close to him. "Hiya pretty girl." "Hi Nick." Lis whispered. She didn't want to be too close to him, not knowing when someone would walk in. He looked down at her and smiled. "We still need to talk." "About what?" Nick took a piece of her long hair in his hand and twisted it between his fingers. "Us." "There isn't an us." Lis answered, quickly. "Yes there is." The sound of footsteps on the stairs made the two of them pull apart, Nick picked up one of her suitcases while Lis bent over retying her shoelaces. Ang looked at the two of them and laughed. "What were you two really doing?" "Nothing." Nick answered, a big grin on his face. "Believable there Carter." she walked over. "Hi I'm Ang." "Lis." Lis said smiling. She liked her all ready. "Well lets you settled, you and Han are sharing a room I hope thats ok?" "Fine. Lead the way." Ang looked around. "Where would Han be?" "Probably still outside talking to Brian." Nick answered. "Oh...should we call them in?" Ang said, playing with a strand of her hair. "They should be in any minute." Nick answered. "Lets get Lis settled." Ang nodded and headed down the hallway, Nick and Lis behind her. Brian slammed the trunk lid on the durango and looked around, the other guys were heading inside. Han was sitting on the front steps, rubbing the back of her neck. "Hey Han." "Oh hi B." Han said tiredly, not looking at him. Brian sat down beside her, so close their legs were touching. "You feeling ok?" "Never better. Why?" "You just seem...I don't know unhappy?" Han looked at him. "I've never been happier." He laughed. "You've never felt better and never been happier but you look positively miserable." Han smiled. "I look that bad?" "No your cute as always." "Cute huh?" Han asked, turning her head to look back down the driveway. "I go for cute." Brian whispered. Hannah heard him. "You do do you?" she asked with a small smile. "What about you?" he asked, brushing back the hair from her face. "What do you mean?" Han asked nervously, avoiding looking at him. Brian took a deep breath. "Han do you like me?" She looked at him startled. "Like you?" He nodded. "The big like." "Oh the big like," she teased. "Han come on be serious." he couldn't believe they were having this conversation on the steps of the girls cabin. "What if I do?" Next: Chapter 15 |
