Then and Now Chapter 20 Brian looked at his watch, it was almost eleven. Ang should have showed by now, grocery shopping didn't take three hours. He set his money on the table and walked out of the small cafe, pulling his jacket closer to him in the cool Kentucky air. He spotted her vehicle still in its parking spot down the street so he headed over. Ang sat in the driver's seat listening to the radio. Every song sounded the same to her, although she wasn't paying much attention to them. The sound of someone tapping her window startled her. She looked over to see Brian standing there looking through the window. Slowly she rolled down the window. "Hey B." She said softly. "Hey Ang. Why ya sitting in the car? I thought we were going to meet up in the cafe." "I didn't see you in there." she lied. Brian made a face. "I didn't see you come in." "We must have just missed each other." He shrugged. "I guess we can wait here for Howie and Jenn." "I'll unlock the door." She watched as Bri walked around the car and she unlocked the passenger door. Nina sat on the blanket on the beach and looked at Kevin, he was laying on his back staring at the stars. He caught her looking at him and smiled. "This is nice." she said, leaning back on her elbows. "I think this trip was a good idea." Nina laughed and Kevin gave her a strange look. "Sorry its just that, well I think only the couples are enjoying themselves. The single ones of the gang are like wandering around in a daze." "It's because their in love." he said smiling. "And some with the same person." A surprised look appeared on his face. "What do you mean?" "You don't know?" He shook his head and waited for Nina to continue. "Ang and Han both have a thing for Brian but I'm not too sure who he has a thing for." "Oh man. Bri's got girl trouble." Nick laid in wait, he watched as Lis walked inside the cabin locking the patio door behind her. Good girl, he thought to himself. Thats it go upstairs to your room. He crept silently across the room in the shadows and watched. Lis stopped on the stairs. The feeling that someone was watching her was making her feel uneasy. Especially since she was supposed to be the only one in the house. She turned and looked down at the living room. Nothing there. Ok your just imagining things, she told herself as she continued on her way to her room. Lis opened the door and walked inside, a pair of arms grabbing her waist. She screamed in shock and tried to get away but the arms were too tightly wrapped around her. She was turned around and came face to face with Nick. "You stupid jerk!" she yelled, trying to push him away. "Aww Lissy's mad at Nicky." he pouted. "Your not supposed to be here. You told everyone you were going somewhere." Nick pulled her closer. "I stayed behind cuz well I came up with this." Lis pounded her fists on his chest. "I hate you Carter." "And I hate you too Lissy." he said as he leaned over to kiss her. Lis resisted at first as his lips met hers but she finally gave in and kissed him back. Next: Chapter 21 |
