Then and Now Chapter 34 Kevin stopped and looked at Nina. "Did you hear that?" "Hear what?" she asked puzzled, all she heard were the typical forest noises. "Voices." he said, trying to see ahead on the path. "Kev, hon I think your imagining things." Nina said, starting to walk ahead of him. "I guess your right." he said, following her."So make yourselves comfortable." Aimee said, looking at the two men. She wondered how Nick and Brian were going to react seeing them here. "Thanks." Brandon smiled at her. "So I thought there were more here?" he asked, surveying the empty cabin. "There are, well there were...AJ and Krys went missing on a hike so everyone else is out looking and here I am." "And here you are." Boyd said, giving her his most charming smile. "Glad you were or we would have thought maybe we had the wrong address went to all the other cabins around here." Brian walked along in silence, following yet another curve in the trail and came face to face with Kevin and Nina. "Guys!" he yelled in surprise. "Cousin!" Kevin yelled, smiling. He turned to Nina. "What did I say about voices?" "All right you were right." she said, seeing more figures in the distance. Kevin turned back to Brian. "AJ and Krys are missing." "No we're not!" Krys yelled, running over "Finally more people." she said, grinning at them. "Can we just get back to the cabin please?" AJ begged, appearing a minute later. "Sure." Kevin said, looking at everyone. "Where's Nick and Lis?" "Back here!" Lis yelled. Nick stopped. "Thanks Lis, never did like hearing out of my left ear anyways." "Ha ha ha. I tell ya Nick you get funnier every single second." Nina looked over. "What happened?" Nick headed over. "Well Lis here sprained her ankle, so I'm carrying her." "Is it bad?" Kev asked concerned. "No just hurts." Lis said. "People," AJ said exasperated, "Storm, us...lets mosey!" he said, going in the direction Kevin and Nina were coming from. "Hurry go with him before he gets lost again." Krys urged. D stood up, pulling Jenn to her feet. "Well we may as well go inside." "I think I'll grab a drink from the kitchen." she said going up the patio stairs. "I could use a drink myself." D said pulling the sliding door open. He stopped hearing voices inside. "Aims?" he called. "Yeah?" she asked, walking into the kitchen. "Who's here?" Jenn asked, coming in behind D. Aimee walked further into the kitchen, "You won't believe this." Ryan and Ang walked quickly through the trees. "Almost at the cabin." He said, seeing it in the distance. "Good, I could definitely stand a nice chair right now." she said with a small smile. "Not used to long hikes?" he teased. "Not all of us are forest rangers Ryan." "Ah right I forgot." he helped her over a fallen branch and smiled at her. AJ saw the cabin first. "I've never been so happy to see a place in my life." "Doesn't he say that about every McDonald's we come across?" Krys whispered to Brian causing him to burst out laughing. AJ spun around. "Laugh at me if you must, but we are finally home. Civilization, running water, beds, cell phones...hair dye." he sniffed and went jogging ahead. "Sudden burst of energy." Nick observed as they watched him push open the gate. Kevin laughed. "I'd say he's just a bit happy." "And I'd say we're back not a moment too soon!" Brian said as the rain started to fall. "Run for it!" Nina yelled, heading to the gate. Brian and Hannah were the first two through the gate after AJ. Brian laughed as he tripped and fell into a patch of mud. "Whats so funny?" Han asked, looking down at him. "This is comfy." he said looking up at her. "Oh really?" "See," he said yanking her down next to him. Hannah screamed as the mud covered her. "Oh you are so dead." she said grabbing a handful of mud and throwing it in his face. Kevin and Nina walked past Brian and Hannah and headed up the steps to find Aimee standing there, an unreadable expression on her face. "Something wrong?" Kevin asked. Aimee smiled weakly. "Uhm, there's two people here to see Han and Lis." "Who?" Nina asked, setting her things down on the deck. "Their boyfriends." Aimee whispered. "But Nick and Brian..." Kevin glanced back at Han and Brian laughing and Nick and Lis coming through the gate at that moment. "Keep them here. Don't say their back yet!" he instructed, running down the steps. AJ ran into the guys cabin, not noticing Krys behind him. "You know I could kiss the floor!" he said, letting his pack and the other one he'd been carrying crash to the ground. Krys laughed as she leaned against the doorway. "There's something I'd pay to see." AJ turned around and grinned. "I'd rather kiss you." he said walking towards her. Krys ran by him. "Not till you shower!" she yelled, heading upstairs. Nick watched Kevin run towards him. "Something wrong Train?" Nick asked, still holding tightly to Lis. Kevin looked at nick and Lis and nodded slowly. "We uh have some visitors, maybe you guys should go to the guys cabin for a few minutes, I can wrap Lis' ankle, you can change...we can talk." Lis gave Kevin a confused look. "Uhm okay." Nick sighed. "Okay, hold on. Lis we're gonna change things around. Kev, can you help her stand for a minute?" Kevin nodded and helped her stand, then watched as Nick scooped her up in his arms. "There much better." Nick said smiling. "I thought I was going to turn into the hunchback of notre dame." "Hey guys, why don't you go get cleaned up at our cabin?" Kevin said, looking at the mud covered Brian and Han. Brian looked up and brushed some hair out of his face, leaving behind a nice large streak of mud. "Sure, sounds good." Han stood up. "Yeah, I'm covered thanks to Bri." "Hey...half of this is because of you." he said pointing to his mud covered self. Han grinned evilly. "I know." she laughed and took off running. Brian got to his feet and shook his head, "Women." he muttered, heading to the cabin. Next: Chapter 35 |
