Then and Now Chapter 37 Han walked into the living room seeing Krys and Lis in deep conversation. "Where's the guys?" Krys asked her. "Outside... Bri said he needed to cool off and AJ went after him. What happened to Nick?" she asked looking around for him. "Outside." Lis replied, "Now if only I could stand I'd head back to our place." "You ready to go back there?" Han asked, twirling a piece of hair around her finger. "Gotta go sometime and I'd rather be there before the storm hits." Nick cleared his throat from the doorway. "Then let me go change and I'll carry you over."AJ motioned for Krys to follow him and she left the living room, following him into the kitchen. "What happened?" she asked, leaning against the counter. He picked up his water bottle from the counter. "Well to put it mildly Nick and Bri were basically freaking out. Me being the sane individual I am reassured them and then when I suggested a group hug...they refused." He pretended to cry. Krys laughed. "Now I know why I'm with you, your good for a laugh." "Oh is that all?" AJ said, looking into her eyes. "Let me see," she stopped and looked at the ceiling in thought, "Yeah the humor is pretty well it...that and you can make a pretty decent spaghetti sauce." "Krys!" he pouted, wrapping his arms around her waist. "Oh I get it...you want a group hug! Okay hold on, Bri, Han get in here!" she yelled. A second later the duo appeared. Krys smiled, "Guys, Bone here's feeling a little neglected...time for a group hug." Bri laughed. "You've got to be kidding." Krys shook her head. "Never been more serious. What was that word you used honey, underappreciated? Come on now, one hug and that's it." Han giggled, "Come on B, it's just a hug you don't have to sleep with him." B rolled his eyes. "Which I'm thankful for everyday believe me." he stated as Han dragged him over. "Bone...did I ever tell you that you have some of the strangest ideas?" He asked as Krys wrapped an arm around his waist. Nick walked into the nearly empty living room, finding Lis sitting on the couch flipping through one of his comics. "Lis?" he said, buttoning up the last few buttons on his plaid flannel shirt. She looked up. "Look Nick you don't have to carry me...I figure if Bri goes on one side and AJ on the other I should be able to make it." "Anyone ever tell you you are a very annoying girl?" he asked as he scooped her up in his arms. "And did anyone ever tell you so are you?" He laughed, "Lets find the others and get going. Where'd they disappear to?" "I'm thinking Krys and AJ went to the kitchen then she called B and Han in about five minutes ago..." Lis trailed off as Nick walked down the hallway and stopped. Nick stared at the group hugging and started cracking up. "I guess AJ got his group hug afterall. Hey you guys, you wanna head out yet?" AJ looked over. "Yeah sure soon as Han moves her hand from my butt." Han stared at AJ. "Bad news babe, that's not mine." "Bri!" AJ yelled in horror causing everyone to burst out laughing. Kevin followed Ryan into the kitchen. "Any news on the storm yet?" Ryan looked at his cousin as he poured himself another cup of coffee. "Its close...the rain that hit was the preliminaries. It could be a tornado." "Tornado?" Ang nearly yelled from the doorway. "Could be...didn't say it was." Ryan said, giving her a reassuring smile. He walked over to her. "Besides we're in a forest, they usually stick to wide open spaces." Ang rested her head against his shoulder. "Tell me why I should believe you again?" "I'm a forest ranger and a Littrell." he answered. "Now let’s go sit down, my legs are still sore from that hike." Ryan took his coffee cup from Kevin and led Ang back to the group. Aims heard the sound of footsteps on the porch before anyone else. Quickly she got up and went to the front door, opening it before Krys could knock. "Well you guys finally came back." Aimee said nervously, glancing at her best friend. Nick nodded. "Yeah, Lis was complaining about our cabin so I thought take her back here. Aims, babe you know I love ya like a sister but could you move? Lis is getting heavy, I've been carrying her all day long." He stated as he made his way past her and into the cabin. His eyes stopped on the three new faces in the cabin. "Evening all." Boyd stood up. "Lis, babe are you okay?" AJ walked inside, "Hmmm guessing she'd be great if you'd have stayed out of her life." he mumbled, just loud enough for the six of them to hear. Krys elbowed him in the ribs. Lis looked at Boyd then at Nick. "I'm fine Boyd." she smiled at Nick, "Nicky I think I can stand." Nick tightened his grip on her. "Don't want any swelling Lissy, lets go upstairs and prop it up." Everyone in the room stared at the three of them. Lis looked at Han and Bri for help. "Yeah Lis Nick's right it should be propped up but I'm sure we can do that down here." Bri said. "Yeah here." Nina said, grabbing some cushions off the couch. "She can sit near the fireplace and put her leg on these." "Good idea." Jenn stated, trying to lighten the tension in the room. Nick nodded and made his way over, setting Lis down and putting himself right next to her. "So you'd be Boyd." Nick said looking at the tall guy in front of him. He had to admit he could see why Lis be attracted to him. Boyd nodded, "And you'd be?" he asked. "Oh stupid me, I'm Nick, that's AJ, his girlfriend Krys, Brian and of course you know Han." "Hey Han." Boyd greeted her with a grin. Han smiled politely at him and took a seat near Bri. "Hi Brandon." She said softly. "Hey babe." Brandon said with a smile. Han felt Bri tense up and she held tightly onto his hand. "I guess I should thank you for looking after my girl." Boyd said, which caused murmuring in the room. Nick laughed. "No need, Lissy thanked me herself didn't you pookie?" he stated, wrapping an arm around her waist. "Well how about uhm..." Kev interjected trying to change the subject, as he was certain things were heading for a brawl for all.
