Then and Now Chapter 39 Krys and AJ sat near the fireplace, most of the other couples were dozing or talking quietly among themselves. Brandon and Boyd had come in about an hour before to grab some spare pillows and blankets so they could make themselves some makeshift beds in the kitchen. Krys looked up from her hot chocolate and saw AJ staring at her. "What now?" she asked with a small smile. AJ shrugged. "We have our hot chocolate and stay right here." She laughed. "No big ideas? Like dancing in the rain? Hey you know if you guys brought some of those dress shirts and put them on, right now we could have a live version of the Quit Playing Games video." "Funny Krys very funny." She giggled, "You think I was kidding?" she teased, looking towards the window where the rain fell in a constant downpour. "Crazy Krys, you're crazy." She smirked. "And that McLean is why you love me." He nodded. "Probably is." he said setting down his hot chocolate and leaning towards her.Brian laid on his stomach next to Han in the corner. "Han?" "Yeah." "You are awake." he said with a grin. "Either that or I'm talking in my sleep." she laughed at his confused expression. "B I'm kidding!" "Oh okay good." She swatted his arm playfully. "You really are silly." "But you like silly right?" he asked, a little nervously. Han smiled shyly at him. "I like whatever you are." Kevin looked around the room and then down at Nina who was almost asleep on his shoulder. "You know its too bad the whole vacation wasn't like this." She stared at him, "You mean trapped in a cabin during one of the worst storms of the century with two of the guys' girlfriends' exes in the kitchen?" He laughed, "No I mean this peace and quiet. I mean we had Nick and Brian chasing after Lis and Han all summer, Krys and AJ get lost in the forest...its just a shame now that summer's almost over everything starts working out." Nina nodded. "Yeah you're right. But hopefully everything will stay good the last week we're all together." Kevin kissed her forehead. "I hope so." Howie laid his head on Jenn's lap, "I was thinking..." "Oh no." "Once we get back to Florida, we take a couple days away from this bunch? Just us alone, no hunting through the Kentucky wilderness for two of our closest friends. No being a cabin apart..." "That sounds really good." His brown eyes looked up into hers. "Thought so. We'll make plans later." Lis slowly opened her eyes and looked at Nick who was laying on his side staring down at her. "Okay give me a complex why don't you." she said, smiling up at him. "Sorry." he apologized. "We're gonna head back home soon." "Now?" she asked confused. "When the storm lets up, maybe in a day or two." he sighed and laid down next to her. "You know I'm sorry this whole thing turned out to be a disaster." "What turned into a disaster?" "Where do I start? The camping trip, the hike back, this storm, me," "Okay stop right there, why are you a disaster? He raised an eyebrow. "Don't you remember the tent disaster? Then the first one of the summer was us dancing at AJ's party..." Lis laughed softly. "Maybe your just jinxed." "Oh funny! Not." He said giving her a dirty look. "Sorry." she pouted. "Its okay, you're too pretty to stay mad at long." he said as he leaned over to kiss her. "Get a room!" AJ yelled from the corner. Nick smirked. "Sounds good to me." he turned and looked at AJ and Krys snuggled together. "Why don't you two?" he laughed. Kevin sighed. "Kids lets behave!" "Yes father." Brian said with a laugh. "You guys are all nuts!" Ang said with a laugh as she and Ryan looked up from their game of poker on the steps. "Nuts huh?" Kevin asked, a smile on his face. "Yeah crazy, nuts, wacky..." Han answered, knowing from the look on Kevin's face he was up to something. "Fellas, think we need to show the ladies just how nuts we are?" AJ grinned. "They could end up hating us for this Kev." "Yeah and Lis has a sore ankle..." Nick started. "Guys, come here." Kev said heading to the front door. Reluctantly the guys all left their girlfriends and huddled up near the front door. The girls all crowded together near the couch. "Does this look bad to anyone else?" Aims asked, looking at the back of her best friend. "Its Kevin, what could he do?" Krys asked, trying to convince herself. "Lots." Nina answered. "But he's gotta convince the other guys..." Brian looked back towards Hannah. "Man Kev, I don't know." "Five seconds, max! Come on...have a little fun." Nick groaned. "D, AJ you in?" D sighed. "Only if the rest of you are." "AJ?" Bri asked. "What D said, man she could hate me for this..." he glanced at Krys then smiled.
