Then and Now Chapter 6 Brian looked at Hannah. "He didn't convince you?" Hannah laughed. "He didn't need to convince me, I asked him out." Brian smiled. "So you convinced him?" "You could say that. Now what about you, where's your girlfriend in this bunch?" Han watched Brian's eyes cloud over briefly then he grinned "No girlfriend for Brok." He answered pretending to cry. "Awww poor Bri." Han said laughing. "Seriously, why are you still single? You seem to be a pretty decent guy." Brian grinned mischeviously. "Me a decent guy? That's a new description." "You know what I mean Bri, your the type of guy most girls want." Bri just shrugged. "Can I hire you to be my new p.r person? Go up to a girl and tell her all my strong points?" Han shook her head to keep from laughing. "Ok I'll stop now." she smiled at him and they walked off the dance floor as the song ended.AJ stood in the middle of the dance floor and clapped his hands. The music stopped and everyone looked at him. "Right now I want to take a break from all this freestyle dancing..." "No linedance!" Howie yelled and a few people laughed. "D, do you think I'd do country line dances after I tried tush push? As I was saying, we're going to try some formal dancing. First up, the tango!" A bunch of groans filled the dance floor. Lis looked at Nick. "Is he always like this?" "He's the spontaneous one of the group." Nick looked over to see AJ and Krys doing the tango in the middle of the nearly cleared dance floor. "Wanna try?" Lis watched AJ dance by her with Krys, a rose between his lips. "I don't have to dance with him do I?" she asked giving Nick a concerned look. "We can do it, come on." Nick grinned and pulled her to him, they looked at what AJ and Krys were doing then soon started copying their movements. "Hey, not bad." Krys said as they passed Nick and Lis. "Thank ya muchly." Nick grinned and spun Lis around, pulling her back to him. He pulled her a little too much because she collided with him, sending him backwards with her on top of him. "Ouch!" Nick said as he hit the wooden floor. Lis lifted herself off him slightly. "Are you ok? Are you bleeding?" "No I don't think so..." Nick sat up partially and rubbed the back of his head. AJ walked over to Nick. "I told you Nick unchoregraphed dancing is dangerous to your health." Nick looked up at AJ. "Could you embarrass me anymore?" he muttered. "Ohh our little Nicky's trying to impress a lady. I know we'll do the YMCA song." He grinned and helped Nick up. Nick and Lis moved to the edge of the dance floor and Nick looked around. YMCA by the village people was blaring over the speakers and everyone was doing the arm movements. Nick rubbed his shoulder. "What are they spelling?" he asked Lis. Lis laughed. "Your kidding right?" Nick grinned. "Maybe I am, maybe I'm not." Han and Brian walked over to where Lis and Nick were standing. "You two ready to go home?" Brian asked. "Yep if the girls are. Where's Aim?" Nick asked, glancing around for her. "She left with Kevin and Nina awhile ago." Brian informed him. "Then I guess its just us four." Nick said heading for the gate. Hannah walked into the girls' room in her pajamas. Lis was all ready in bed flipping through her magazine. Han climbed into her bed and got comfortable. "Did you call Boyd?" Lis looked up. "He's not home. He said he wasn't going to leave for the cabin for another week I don't get it." "Maybe him and Bran went out." "Maybe, did you call Bran yet?" Han shook her head. "I forgot." she said sheepishly. She saw Lis giving her a funny look. "What?" "What what? I'm just saying you and Brian seemed like you two were getting along well." Han tossed a pillow at her friend. "I'm with Bran ok? Brian is just...he's a distraction." Lis raised an eyebrow. "Maybe you should tell that to Brok. I don't think that's what he thinks." "And what about you? I think you crashed into Nick on purpose." "I did not!" Lis replied, a little too quickly. "Omg you did! I can't believe you." Lis threw her magazine at Han. "Oh grow up Han! I have a boyfriend remember? And Nick isn't even my type." "He used to be though." Lis rolled over, hoping to end the conversation. Why she had even told Han she had a small, smaller then small, tiny, teeny tiny even crush on Nick when she was nine was beyond her. "Night Carter." Han said, teasing her friend. "Night Han." Lis mumbled, pulling the pillow over her head. Nick sat in bed. For the first time he realized how thin the walls were between his room and the guest room. He smiled as he laid down, his mind running over the conversation he had just overheard. Nick rolled over in bed and fell asleep, thinking that it might be a good summer after all. Next: Chapter 7 |
