Then and Now Chapter 8 Lis followed Nick through his gates and parked behind him. They had gone to four different rental places and hadn't found a decent car then Nick had an idea. Lis was totally against it but he talked her into it. Lis got out of her new black convertible and watched Nick climb out of his Durango. "I get the first ride remember!" Nick said grinning at her. "I know." Lis smiled shyly at him, still in shock that he had leased the car in her name. She looked back at her car and followed him to the back where they could hear a group of voices.Aimee stood up. "Finally you two! I thought maybe you went to Miami to rent a car." "It uh took longer then we expected." Nick explained, sitting down at the table. Lis looked around, the other four Backstreet boys were there along with their girlfriends. Two girls she didn't recognize. Nick noticed Lis looking at Kev's girlfriend and Howie's girlfriend. "Lis, that's Nina next to Kevin and the girl laughing at Howie's bad joke is Jenn." "Hi." Nina and Jenn said in unison. "Hi." Lis said shyly. "What are you guys doing here?" Nick asked, grabiing a drink. "Well see the girls were going to the beach and we thought us guys would tag along, and Aimee said she'd invited the girls but forgot to find out if they wanted to go." AJ explained Han walked out onto the deck. "Beach? Count me in." "And me, you know I'm a water boy." Nick grinned, leaning back in his chair. "Which leaves Lis, you in?" Brian asked, looking at her. Nick turned to her, "Come on! It'll be cool and that way you can get having to drive me out of the way." Han sat down. "Drive you?" "Explain." Aimee stated, looking at her best friend. "See well, we couldn't find Lis a decent car and we went to like four places...so uhm I..." "Nick leased a car for me." Lis finished for him. Hannah stared at Lis while the guys stared at Nick. Lis stood up. "I'll go grab my suit." she said and headed inside, Han right behind her. Han walked into their room and shut the door behind her. "He did what?" Lis looked up from her duffel bag. "Leased a car. No big deal really." Han rolled her eyes and sat on the bed. "No big deal, no not at all. He just bought you a car." "Its his car, I'm just driving it." "For all he knows your the world's worst drivers. You could have been the main story on World's Scariest Police Chases." In spite of herself, Lis laughed. "If I was that bad a driver my dad would have told him that before we left." She grabbed her suit and left the room to change. Nick walked into the kitchen to grab a snack with B and Aimee close behind. "So you practically bought her a car." Brian stated, leaning against the counter. "Its my car, she's just driving it." Nick said, moving B out of the way to open the cupboard. "Why don't I get a car?" Aimee teased. She laughed at her best friend who was giving her a deadly glare. "You two are nuts you know that? I'm just being nice..." "To the girl you never really got over." Brian finished. He moved out of the way before Nick could give him a little shove. Aimee looked at Nick. "You like her? That way?" Nick went red. "I don't like her any way all right?" "Yeah sure uh huh." Bri said, grabbing another drink from the fridge. "Why don't you sing her I'll Never Break Your Heart? Always works on the ladies, and it could make up for the frog incident years ago." Nick shook his head. "Can you people stay out of my non existent love life?" He looked at Aimee. "And before you go blabbing this to the others, I liked her when I was nine. But Bri's wrong, I've been over her for years." Aimee smiled. "Okay Nicky, don't go ballistic on us." ~3 hours later~ The guys were playing volleyball on the beach while the girls sat and watched. Jenn brushed the hair out of her face and adjusted her sunglasses. "So how long you two in Florida for?" Han looked over. "Pretty much the whole summer, barring interuptions." "Interuptions?" Nina asked, taking her eyes off the volleyball game. "Han means unless some big disaster happens, we're here till the end of August." Lis answered, she picked up her discman and turned it on.
