When Roses Grow Black Chapter 18 "W…what??" I stammered as my dream instantly came to mind. Brian looked at me calmly and restated his last sentence, "The doctor said it looked as if he were stabbed in the left shoulder with a broadsword." My hand flew to my mouth as I gasped. I couldn't even begin to imagine the pain Nick must have been in. "So what was the real cause of it??" Brian sighed and rubbed his eyes. He looked so tired. He had bags under his eyes and his eyelids looked as though they were ready to close. I could also see that stress was get to to him, wearing him down, making his older than his 25 years. "Nick says it's where he got hurt in his dream. Kevin told him it's all in his mind and that the dream was a side effect from the pain killers. We still don't know what actually happened. The doctors don't even know how to explain it." "So that's what it has to do with the dream??" I asked, my eyebrows furrowed. I tried to think back to my dream, anything I could remember about it. Kevin!! Kevin was there. I never remembered seeing Brian in my dream, but Kevin was there! "And when did this all happen??" "Night before last, why??" Brian gave me a puzzled look which I returned. "Night before last?? Jeez, how long was I out for??" I asked completely confusing myself. "Three nights, four days. What is this twenty questions?" Brian started being a wise-ass. I promptly ignored him and continued on with my line of thought. "Have you talked to Kevin today??" "No..." Brian answered still completely lost in where I was going with all this. "Kevin is having the dreams, too. He just had one. He was in mine. I think maybe Nick was in mine too, but I didn't see him cause we weren't asleep at the same time," I thought out loud and began solving the mystery of the haunting dreams. Suddenly my mind blanked and the reason for my running down the highway came clearly into my mind. Realization dawned on me and fear swept over my mind. Panic was ready to sink in at any moment. He was here. My enemy was here. Just as I was. We came back to finish what had begun centuries ago.Next: Chapter 19 |
