When Roses Grow Black Chapter 24 "What??" I choked out in disbelief from my seat on the bed. "Everyone is dead," Kevin repeated again. "Not a single person is left alive," Brian jumped into the conversation. "How? I mean, all those people, in such a short amount of time??" I asked rhetorically. I couldn't get over this feeling of this being surreal. "Who knows, I say we get the hell outta here before something happens to us too," AJ suggested inching towards the door more. "Every person was shot in the forehead," Kevin replied ignoring AJ. At his words I couldn't help but glance at the dead security guard on the floor. "Hey, uh, Kev, Rose?? I agree with AJ. It would kinda look like we killed every one if the cops came and we were here, the only ones left alive," Nick said standing in the doorway yet again. "And it wouldn't look that way if we ran?" I asked smugly. "Com'on, please? Can we go?? this place is creepin' me out here," Nick begged. "Alright," Kevin sighed, "let's get our asses outta here. We'll go back to the hotel and grab Howie before taking off." 'Finally,' I thought to myself, 'I get out of this damn hospital.' "Wait!!! My Bag!!! Where's my bag?!?!" I asked almost freaking out. "Relax," AJ replied from behind me, "It's on the tour bus, everything is in it, safe and in one piece." I let out a sigh of relief knowing my things were alright. "Oh God," I muttered at the door way. If I had eaten anything earlier I would have been sick to my stomach, but I hadn't. Blood; blood was everywhere. It covered everything I could see. It formed an ocean about two inches thick across the white tile floor. Corpses lay in the halls like fallen tree branches in an untouched forest. I looked down at my attire and groaned. I was in a white bathrobe a size too big for me and I had bare feet. I did not want to step in this blood bath. I looked at AJ who still stood behind me and silently shook my head no. I couldn't do it. With out a word he bent down and picked me up. I gasped in surprise, but didn't utter a protest. I wrapped my arms around AJ's neck out of reflex and rested my head on his shoulder. I couldn't help but smile as I thought how many girls in the world would want to have me killed at that moment. "Aw, gross," Nick groaned from behind us and I quickly looked back. He was still better off than I was. He had on his black Air Jordans and flannel pajamas. He had carefully put his left arm in the sling again so he wouldn't move it and hurt himself more. We slowly made our way to the exit with Kevin leading the way and Brian trailing. All three were careful not to trip over anything or anyone in the process. We weren't any more than a few feet away from each other, but it seemed like miles. I still kept asking myself one question, 'Is this real??'Next: Chapter 25 |
