The Forgotten Sandal

The day started out pretty much as most do, we got ready to go out and start exploring other inexpensive things to do in our area, things we never really gave much thought to, like exploring various parks, city tours and museums that have little or no cost to do.

Yea, you can say I'm cheap! LOL But I have found that sometimes the things that cost the least are sometimes the most fun and also sometimes even the most entertaining. So we opted for the boat tour this brisk and cool November day, my wife opted to wear a denim skirt, barefeet and brown sandals. Well I thought sandals untill we got to the boat tourand she got out of the car in only her left sandal. I said didn't you forget something? She looked at me and said, no, I don't think so and proceeded to walk down to the ticket office and purchase the tickets for the next tour out on the chain of lakes, the tour usually lasted about an hour to an hour and a half.

So as she proceeded to walk to the ticket office I said turn around and smile, she did and I snapped a shot of her looking at me and she still did

not seem to realize she was wearing a single sandal. Mind you sandals and barefeet are not my thing and they really don't get me going as a single high heel and stockings, but I did find this amusing that she didn't appear to notice she had forgotten to put on her right sandal, of which I thought she had taken it off in the car, only to find out later, as she did, that she never put it on before we left home! So we did the boat tour and she got some looks, but not a single person said or asked her where her other sandal was, nor were any comments overheard about the missing shoe the entire time. On the way home we had to stop at Winn Dixie to pick up some items for lunch and dinner later, I still didn't say anything more about her

missing sandal until we got to shopping plaza parking lot and she would be going inside the store to pick up the items. Sop as she proceeded to once more step out of the car and get ready to go into the store, I asked her once more, are you sure you aren't forgotting something? What? Is there something else we need from the store while I'm here? she asked. No, but you do seem to have forgotten something. You know the store won't let you in without shoes. I said a bit slyly. She looked at me and said, What are you talking about, I'm wearing my sandals today.I looked at her and gave a devilish little grin and then a laugh. What's so damn funny? She asked. I said, you really aren't aware you're only wearing just one sandal?

Oh yea, real funny. You'd like for me to believe that wouldn't you? I said, then you really haven't a clue you have not been wearing your right sandal at all today. Look Mr Funny man, I know you like that thing, but I have both shoes on she insisted. I couldn't help it, I lost it and really started laughing at her. She really DID NOT know she had not been wearing but one shoe all this time. I said, here let me prove it, so I turned the digital camera around and showed her the photos I took of her at the scenic boat tour standing ther on the sidewalk in just her left sandal, no right sandal to be seen anywhere.She gasped, SHIT! DAMN IT! Why the hell didn't you say something before now?

I shyly and sort of whispered, I did, back at the boat tour. Don't recall me asking you: Didn't you forget something after you got out of the car? Sort of, but I thought that was something to do with if I had the money to pay for the tickets for the boat tour, not that I was missing a sandal. Nope, I was trying to see if you were aware you were missing a sandal, apparntly you weren't since you did the boat tour in just the sandal you have on now. Okay, okay. So I forgat to put my fight sandal back on, so how about giving it to me now so i can go in the store and get our supplies. Okay, let me find it. I looked over in the

passenger floorboard area, no sandal, under the seats, and everywhere inside the car and even the trunk. No right sandalto be found anywhere. Sorry hon, your shoe doesn't seem to be here anywhere. Are you sure you even put it on this morning before we left? Why hadn't I noticed when she came down to get in the car, I was fooling around with placing stuff in the trunk and didn't notice her come down until I heard the car door close and knew that it would be time to leave as soon as I closed the trunk. So she said, well if anyone asks, I'll just tell them I broke the sandal when we were at the boat tour and it fell in the lake and couldn't get it back. So I'll just go on in and do the shopping in a single shoe

for now. I'll just act like I have both shoes on unless someone really brings it up. And as you can see from the photos, so did just that, went in and out of the store in a single sandal. When we home, she looked for the mate to the sandal she was wearing to see why she forgotten to wear it. She found it lying on top of her dresser, covered with some paperwork she was going through and didn't realize she had covered her shoe up, hiding it from everyone's view. And why didn't she notice when she walked out without her right sanda, she tells me that these particular sandals are very comfortable and feels

just like she is walking in her barefeet, so she said she really didn't notice her missing shoe until I really brought it to her attension at the supermarket parking lot.                                      THE END                            Story by Snydley Whiplash
