Who stole my shoe at work?
Today was a bright and warm spring day so I put on my blue pinstripe jacket and skirt also some dark stockings. I looked in my shoe cupboard and decided to wear my black suede sling-backs, I got them out and put them on and went to work.
After about an hour one shoe was digging into my foot and was very uncomfortable so I slipped it off and left it under my deck and carried on working soon I had forgotten all about my shoe. It wasn’t until lunch time and Kay said do you want to go into town for something to eat and I said ok just coming, I picked up my handbag and started towards the door and Kay said what about your other shoe, my shoe I said, oh yes as I looked down at my one shod state.
That shoe hurts my foot I don’t really want to wear it and Kay said ok leave it off then, ok I said and we both went out the office and down the stairs to the front door, Kay said no one has noticed you are wearing only one shoe I thought everyone would. Yes I said if I walk on tiptoe on my shoeless foot so that I’m level no one notices. We walked around to the sandwich bar and had lunch, soon we were back at work and I looked under the desk for my other shoe and it had gone.
I asked if anyone had seen it and after a while I was told someone had filed it away, Hmmm, I thought I wonder if it had been hidden in one of the filing cabinets, I started to look in the filing cabinets in the office and it was not in any of them, just then I heard someone snigger and say she won’t find it up here it has been archived. I wonder if they have put it in the files in the basement, only one thing for it I will have to go down and look in there.
So I walked over to the stairs and carefully walked down the stairs wearing only one shoe and it is easy going up stairs in shoe but it is so much harder going down stairs. I got to the basement and opened the door and turned on the lights, there were about 50 filing cabinets in there, I looked in the first one but no shoe then the next one and so on, after about half an hour I was about half way but still no shoe. I began to think maybe my shoe was not in here, then I opened one and there it was, I took my shoe out and put it in my bag and went back up stairs to my office and Kay said can’t find it then, no I said I’ve looked everywhere so it looks like I will be going home in just one shoe.
I limped out the office and down the road towards the train station and when I got to the station I opened my bag to get my shoe out, to my surprise it had gone again so I had to get the train home wearing one shoe, I never did get the other shoe back and I still have the one shoe in my shoe cupboard.

THE END.
