| Russell started working as an actor at the age of 6. While his parents were doing their work as location caterers, Russell watched the actors do their work and learned a lot from it. He also developped a passion for it. He soon became a child extra, and appeared in a few television series. The first one he appeared in was an episode of Spyforce. Then, at 12, he appeared in The young Doctors which ran from 1976 to 1981. In 1990, he also appeared in Police Rescue.
