• Rules for Kassau •

All Citizens and slaves of Kassau are required to know and uphold the information posted here. There is a separate section of rules just for slaves on the training site. All slaves will know both sets of rules.

Above all, the word of the Jarl is the law. Any caught not abiding by it shall face the consquences He deems appropriate.

This is Gor! NO OOC is allowed here as this room is intended for Gorean roleplay. This room is not for BDSM/Castle/Vampire/Fetish/General chat, etc. If you can not handle this, you need to find another place to chat.

Visitor Rules Potential Member Rules Village Laws

• Rules for visitors •

1. All visitors that enter with inappropriate names (Visitor/Anonymous/Observer) will be directed only ONCE to config, by using the "Config" pulldown, and asked to change to a more suited character name or add an ~o~ to signal they ae only observing. If they refuse to change or add the ~o~ after that, any and all actions or words they make under the improper character name will be ignored by all within Kassau.

2. The people of Kassau will not tolerate rudeness or un-Gorean behavior that disrupts the roleplay of the room. A Site Mod can be called to boot the offenders. If you wish a list of Site Mods contact Lady Chloe.

3. Any person who is on the 'Banned List' that enters Kassau will be informed of their name being on the list then ignored, completely and totally.

4. Any person on the 'Honored Guest List' will be treated as family while in Kassau.

5. Free Women do not need Escorts to enter Kassau. Women that overstep their boundries or do not wear proper attire (avatars) for a FW will be subject to face-stripping (if veils are worn) and collaring or caging to be ransomed.

6. Free Guests have the right to be served food and drink. They may converse with anyone from Kassau. The only exception being a slave that is not allowed to speak per Owner's orders. Frees have the right to be entertained (including sexual favors) by a slave of Kassau, provided the slave is not restricted in any way. Remember, sometimes the services of a good slave cost coin. NOTE: ~Owner's Permission~ means just that! Get the Owner's permission before You try anything. Virgin slaves and the slaves of Free Women (wearing a ~V~ or ~FWs~ tag) are NOT available for sexual service!

7. Visitors need not disarm when entering Kassau. However, any non-member pulling a weapon on any member of Kassau will be dealt with swiftly, harshly, and to the fullest extent of the law.

8. Kassau allows slaves to visit without Escort. Any slave acting inappropriately will be caged. The Owner will have 24 hours to claim the slave, perhaps for a price. Any visiting slave (not ~o~ observers) may be required to serve if needed.

9. Kassau does not recognize or give out 'protection collars'.

10. If a visiting slave has a problem while in Kassau they will bring it to Lady Chloe or a slave trainer. If they are not available, only then may they take it another Free Person of Kassau.

• Rules for potential members •

1. All roleplayers are expected to maintain the theme of everyday life in a busy northern Gorean trade port. OOC should not interfere and the roleplay should not be taken out of the proper setting and theme.

2. All wishing to make Kassau their Home must show knowledge of or a desire to learn the Gorean ways promptly.

3. Any Free Person wishing to join must receive a Probationary Citizen pin and the recommendation of a current Kassau citizen. Any Kassau citizen may recommend new free people and hand out pins but, only the Jarl or his woman may grant full citizenship. You may be accepted as a part of Kassau or turned down. The decision is up to Taltos...not you.

4. Men of a Caste or Position that requires fighting, or those that wish to be included in the village's raiding parties, will spar another man of the Jarl's choice to gain said position. This is to prove that you know and follow the ways of Gorean combat. The outcome (win or lose) matters not but, you must be ready and willing to prove your skills.

5. Free people will need to prove their skills and qualifications when they apply for a position of employment within the Village.

6. Any free person joining may bring the slaves that they already own into Kassau. These slaves will remain in the Owner's collar. However, they will being in an unevaluated status and need to prove their experience in a series of tests to receive a similar 'level' of service to what they formerly obtained. Slaves that don't satisfactorily pass the tests will be placed at the level deemed appropriate by the Jarl's woman. New slaves are likely but, not always required to, begin as kettle or work slaves.

7. Kassau allows observers wearing an ~o~. If a slave wears an ~o~ they may not serve or roleplay in any other way. To do so negates the protecion of the ~o~ and allows them to be force collared. If they wear the ~o~ they may only observe and ask questions to learn of the Village and Gor.

8. Any ~o~ slave that enters and wishes a collar should first spend some time in the Village. During this time they should observe and ask questions to learn about the potential new Home. If they beg for a collar, the Jarl and/or Free People of Kassau will then decide if it's a good idea to collar them. If the decision is 'yes', they will be allowed the priviledge of wearing a village collar. ALL slaves start out in a Village collar unless they are slated for immediate sale away from the home or enter as the property of a free person petitioning for citizenship.

9. Any slaves that enter Kassau with no collar and no ~o~ will be warned ONCE to put an ~o~ on. If they do not, they will be caged until they can be sold or collared to the Home.

10. Any Free Person of Kassau may collar a slave to the Village providing that the requirements for such are met and the proper procedure followed.

11. Within a week of joining you will need to register for the Kassau Message Walls. Contact information should be posted on the OOC wall. We will need some way to contact you outside of the roleplay. If you have a current character bio, submit it here to be posted. If you don't have a bio, you'll need to start working on one.

12. You will be expected to be an active part of the home (free or slave). All members are asked to actively roleplay for at least two hours each week, if possible. Those that can't be that active should be considerate and let everyone know via a post on the OOC wall.

13. Free people of Kassau are expected to use the bond-maids & thralls collared in the home, within their restrictions, even if they do not own them. Allow them to serve food/drink/conversation/sex. The slaves work hard and ignoring them is an insult to their service as well as a poor reflection on the free people as a Jarl or Mistress. Free people should give the slaves tasks to perform but, please keep in mind that all of them are required to do chores and often training assignments, on top of whatever is asked them to get or do for you. These often have strict due dates on them. Please do not be greedy and take up all of a slave's time for your own pleasures.

14. Remember, roleplay is roleplay and all aspects of it are to be kept in the roleplay enviroment. It is said that messenger services (ie: MSN, ICQ etc) are NOT Gor, and in light of that, roleplaying a Gorean circumstance IN CHARACTER on them is forbidden. Be it serving food, drink, sex, conversation or whatever it IS roleplay so long as it is in character. Such should and WILL be dealt with within the boundries of Kassau or any other Gorean chatroom for that matter. The same goes for spars, shopping etc. If it's a roleplay event, it takes place in the RP enviroment. Period.

15. NO personal collars will be granted to ANY pairing of Free and slave that cannot provide the necessary time to RP with the other in Kassau on a consistent basis.

16. Dualling, having more than 1 Gorean character at any given time, is NOT allowed in Kassau. This can be punished by death of the character and being banned from the home's roleplay.

• Laws of Kassau •

All citizens & slaves will uphold these laws or face the consequences for not doing so!

-Expectations & Service-

All citizens will contribute and help out around the village. Citizens are required to keep record of their work and completed duties here, in the proper section. Without any record of the work being done, wages can't be received. No work=No pay! No record of work=No pay! All slaves will work as commanded and able within the village. For owned property, no work=no food!

Castes are recognized within Kassau but not required. Kassau does not recognize multiple castes. A person is born into a Caste. There will be no people in Kassau that wear the tags of more than one caste. Free men are required to obtain a position of employment within the village but, it need not be directly related to their caste, if they are of one. Free women are also expected to obtain employment unless they are financially supported by a family, companion, or guardian. Apprenticing is allowed and encouraged. Training and instruction can be provided, as available, for free people to gain employment.

Free people that neglect their work can be demoted or dismissed from their position of employment. It is important that active logs (i.e. - notes in your duties log) are kept.

Capable men are expected to help defend the village against any attacks to the best of their ability. Free women and slaves are expected ensure their safety and 'hide' themselves in the designated spots during any attack. All slaves (privately & Village owned) will follow the training program if they are to serve. Otherwise, they will only be eligible for work slave status. The Jarl's Woman and slave trainers are responsible -only- for the training of Village slaves. The only exception to this is when an owner pays the fee to have their slave trained by Lady Chloe or a slave trainer appointed by her. Otherwise, the owner is responsible for the training of their own property. Either way ALL slaves within Kassau are tested by the Jarl's Woman or her appointed trainers before they may serve anyone but their owner.

Any slave that's absent without notice for 3 weeks will be considered a runaway and to be dead or captured. Allowance to serve again in the village is highly unlikely. Owners are expected to keep track of their property and ensure this doesn't occur.

-Housing-

Each citizen will be offered the chance to purchase an available property from the Village to reside in and/or work in. Undeveloped land might also be available for purchase to build on. Said property may be sold back to Kassau if the person needs to leave it for some reason.

Accommodations can also be rented for those that don't wish to buy property of their own. There is always an inexpensive bed available barracks for men. Women, and men with the coin to spare, can find more suitable lodgings among some cabins available for rent.

In some rare circumstances, housing is provided as an employee benefit.

Bond-maids will sleep in the alcoves, chained, unless privately owned and directed otherwise. Thralls will sleep, also chained, in the livestock sheds in the pasture, unless otherwise directed.

-Taxes-

Citizens must fulfill all tax obligations. There is a 10% income tax, automatically deducted from a citizen's earned monthly wages.

There is a property tax, for any residences or workshops owned, of 3 coppers that must be paid monthly.

-Kept Property-

Free people will keep the slaves that they own when they obtain citizenship in Kassau.

Citizens may purchase slaves in a Kassau collar from the village. All negotiations should be managed between free people, not with the slave.

Free people must manage and maintain their own property, or hire help in doing so if they can afford such.

In an owner's complete absence of more than 1 month, slaves left alone and uncared for will revert to village ownership.

Fair compensation should be given by any citizen to another citizen for property damage. The specific details and amounts are up to the parties involved.

Any free person of Kassau that leaves the Village to live elsewhere or wander, denying their citizenship, without first informing the leaders of the village of their intentions will forfeit all belongings left behind, including slaves they have in collar and other property owned, to Kassau and lose the right to regain citizenship in the future.

-Travel-

Travel to and through the Crossroads, AR is not allowed.

Otherwise, free men may travel where they please but, should always keep in mind that they are, as a citizen, an acting representative of the village.

Free women may travel to "safe", no kill/no capture zones alone. To other places, they should be escorted by a man of the village. Either way, they should use fair judgement and remember that they, too, are a representative of Kassau.

Slaves will not travel without an escort or express permission to do so. The only exception being for Torvald's Stream Trading Post, when they have duties there to tend.

-Behavior-

Free people are expected to handle themselves according to their status and position, and in a Gorean manner, in any given situation. All citizens are expected to be an active part of the village, in work and socialization.Men that can't settle their disputes with each other without weapons will find their way to the spar pit. Free women must decide if their complaint is worthy of lodging when they feel a man has 'wronged' them. If so, they must seek out a Magistrate, the Jarl, or his woman to register the complaint. If the woman has a companion or male family member, he may handle the issue on her behalf.

Slaves are expected to handle themselves according to their status and positions, in a Gorean manner, in any given situation, too. Thralls are beasts of burden, usually. Male slaves are not to be lazing about or socializing in the Hall for extended periods. Bond-maids are kept active, too. Female slaves are allowed more leeway in be social but, they need to be sure they are not letting service, training, or chores go untended. Either class of slaves is expected to be pleasing or deal with the consequences if not.

In the absence of the Owner, Lady Chloe or a slave trainer can & will offer guidance/corrections to privately collared slaves. The Owner not being in the Village is no excuse for a slave to embarrass the Home with errors left unattended. Slaves are expected to accept these corrections without causing a scene and being any more displeasing.
