1. Know what you are considered by Gorean standards as a slave.

- a slave is a piece of property...they have no rights...they are Owned...they do as commanded or are usually punished...they often must work to earn their keep....often they will go through a training process to be taught how to do their duties

"In the eyes of Gorean law you are an animal. You have no name in your own right. You may be collared and leashed. You may be bought and sold, whipped, treated as the master pleases, disposed of as he sees fit. You have no rights whatsoever. Legally you have no more status than a tarsk or vulo. Legally, literally, you are an animal." ---Explorers of Gor page 316

"New slaves are often treated with great harshness. It helps them lean quickly that they are slaves. Later, when the girl is well trained and her services become perfections, she may be treated more leniently, even lovingly, like a dog." --- Dancer of Gor page 90

2. Be sure you want to play the character of a slave.

- being a slave does not always mean 100% fun & games...knowing what a slave is...you must make sure you truly want to play this type of character...it is unfair to clutter up a Home's member page with names of character's started then abandoned because someone decided later that they 'did not like it'....it is just as bad to waste the time of the P/person who trains the new slaves by beginning to teach someone that ends up disappearing when T/their time could have better been spent on the slaves that truly wish to learn...if you do not want to be a slave and play a slave...don't.

3. Be sure you have the time to commit yourself to the character.

- do not start a character if you know that you can not actively participate for any meaningful length of time (i.e. - moving r/t, going out of town for extended periods, losing the computer, losing internet access, etc)...come back when you will more time.

4. Find out what your 'duties' will be & be sure you can fullfill them.

- know and understand what you will be required to do as a slave of your Home...make sure you have the time & the desire to meet these expectations...if you don't...do not start a character.

5. If you have gotten this far & are still positive that Gor is the right choice for you...beg collar.

- starting a character is only the first step...making yourself and active part of your Home is the next & the biggest part of all....
