Brief WNT History:
Kate Sobrero, one of the WNT's new players, joind her first camp in January of 1998. The youngest of for, she is the only girl, which makes her the little princess in her large Italian family.  Growing up, she loved soccer but also loved other sports, especially tennis.  Her dad's job caused the family to move often.  Soccer became a connection to new communities.  She joined teams and made friends.
At fourteen, she joined the ODP, made the state team immediately, but didnt make the reagional team until her high school senior year.  That year, she also made the U-20 National team. Says Kate, "If my story offers inspiration to anyone, it would be to those players who arent the starts.  I always worked hard but was never a highly sought after player."
She attended Notre Dame, but when the coaching staff first aproached her they made it clear she might not start on the team.  Kate not only started all four years, she earned many accolades, including being hailed as the player whos performance was instrementional in the Fighting Irish's 1995 NCAA Championship win.
A 1997  deans list graduate with a degree in schience/business, Kate plans to join the corporate world.  In fact she wwas interviewing for jobs when she got the call to join a wnt camp in the winter of 1998.  Her reaction? Says Kate, "it was so weird to be playing with people whose names and faces are on the T-shirts I wear!"
