This is me. This was taken at Yerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco the day after Martin Luther King's birthday this year. That fountain behind me is the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. I swear I did not steal that turtleneck sweater from Chloe Sullivan in the Smallville episode "Cool."
"All about the Kat ..."
The story of my life ... I'm sure you've been holding your collective breaths for this one. I just like to write so just humor me on this.

I was born in Pasay City, Manila, Philippines to Jane and Edgar. They're divorced now, but they got two great daughters out of the deal (my sister Elisa, aka Nina aka Faalatula Fontaine, came two years and three months after me). My mom says that I was a literal pain, but labor only lasted a couple hours. In fact, trivia geeks, I wasn't even born in a hospital. I was born in the clinic because I popped out so fast. For the record, my sister came forth into the world with only 30 minutes of labor. Sigh. I also have two half-sisters, Karen (Ren) and Karissa (Bam-Bam).

I moved to San Diego, CA, when I was about 6 1/2. (Remember the days when the half would count? Yeah.) There I met the love of my life, Brian, at church. More on that later. I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area when I was 10, just in time to start the fifth grade. A stint with cheerleading, a league tennis doubles championship, three years of editor-in-chief at the school paper and yearbook editorship later, I graduated from high school (go, Rams! go, Westmorons! go, Class of 1995!). Yeah, I was a busy kid in high school. Oh yeah, I also starred as Hermia in "A Midsummer Night's Dream," dated three saxophone players from the band and found my best friends/soul mates in
Mad Dogs in the Fog (Bec, Cece, Elin, Phil, Shirley, Julie and Maria), Trippie Gang aka BRAT Pack (Duckie, Jas and Mayra) and Derick (no affiliation). Told you I was busy.

I went to college at
San Diego State University, where I found my true calling at The Daily Aztec: copy editing. I suddenly realized that my sole purpose in life is to make the world safe for grammatists everywhere. I don't know if that's a word, but I'm using it anyway because I know the rules, so now I can break them.

In March 1999, my friend Brian asked me to his senior prom. Imagine my surprise as Brian was a senior in high school and I was 22 years old. Well, I went to his prom (like anyone noticed I was 22; I have looked 16 since I was 16 and never aged since then). And since July 1999, we have been a couple. It wasn't that easy, was it? It probably was. Ask him. To me it's all a blur and he remembers every detail. Here's our
one-year anniversary. Here's Brian's 21st birthday at Forbes Island in San Francisco.

Currently I write the entertainment calendar for a newspaper wire service. It's cool knowing what's going on around here. Too bad I can't afford most of it.

My hobbies are: Smallville, writing fanfic, eating junk food, browsing the Internet, playing with my doggies (
Chewy and Justice) and reading. Do I sound like a boring person? Well, actually, I am.
