The Wind

The rider rides not on the horse,
But upon the wind,
The wind does not eat, does not
Drink, does not
Ask for anything at all.

The wind moves faster than the horse,
The wind never stops,
The wind sometimes
Whinnies like a horse.

Kalinga

Only Ashoka comes back
The rest are still looking for Kalinga.

Only Ashoka walks with a bowed head
The rest
March ahead with victors' strides.

Only in Ashoka's ears the cry reverberates, the rest
Are laughing themselves silly.

Only Ashoka lays down the sword.
Only Ashoka
Was fighting.
