Yay! Both of the pages I'm posted on have updated! I'm so happy that I'm going to go on with this next part. I'm actually proud of myself for keeping up with this and "Soulmate" so well. I haven't slacked off on either! I welcome opinions, questions, comments, ideas, and anything else you can think of to say to me, so please e-mail me, I would really like that. I remember when I wrote my first fic ever, "Betrayed," (Located at the wonderful page of Lady Spring) I got so much mail it was unbelievable. And now....nothing. Well, a little, but it's more like a leaky faucet dripping on my head. Feedback is so addictive! Oh, does anyone mind that I don't always put disclaimers? It's kinda obvious that I don't own anything. (The few things I do own my dad thinks belong to him....) Hey, someone tell me if Wufei is in tune enough with his character in this. Sister Earth Part three ________________________________________________________________ Wufei closed the textbook he was working out of and put his pen down. A quick glance around the room showed that most of his peers were finished with the assignment as well. Now there was nothing to do but wait for the next assignment of long and boring school work. He was ashamed that he, as a gundam pilot, should have his life ruled this way. Controlled by the teachers and their whims, moving to accordance of the bells that signaled which class you should be in. It was all so...weak. He was definitely ashamed, and the fact that the others had to endure it as well was of little consolation because he didn't belong among them anyway. Sometimes he'd feel himself forming bonds of friendship with the others, but when he did he'd immediately stop them before they formed completely. Friendship was a weakness and could only be used against you. He could never subject himself to that weakness. And if he was a little more isolated, a little more alone because of this, then so be it. There were more important things then whether Chang Wufei was lonely or not. Bored, he noticed a teacher's assistant come into the room and hand a slip of paper to the teacher who read it then nodded, and the assistant left the room. The teacher stood. "Class, your attention please. It appears we have a few new students who will be joining us today." A girl with waist-length blonde hair tied into a ribbon walked into the room as if she thought she was the most important person in there. Several boys made comments and Duo let a small whistle. Wufei merely snorted with contempt. "This is Aino Minako, and it says here her dream is to be a singing idol." Minako blew a tiny kiss at the rallying boys and stepped aside. Following her came a slightly taller girl with raven hair. "This is Hino Rei," the teacher continued. "She's training to become a priestess." Wufei grunted as Duo, who was obviously very glad at having the two girls join the class, jabbed him in the ribs and gave him a thumbs-up. Wufei glared until the baka turned back to his own seat. "And last is...come on in, dear, there's nothing to be afraid of." She motioned outside the door. A small girl with ankle-length hair tied into two odd ponytails walked in. "This is Tsukino Usagi, and she...well, it doesn't appear you filled out your personal section, Usagi." The girl shrugged. "I couldn't think of anything," she said softly. Wufei found himself watching this one with rapt attention. Usually when there were new students he'd forget them the moment they were introduced, but there was something different about the girl. Her hair looked incredibly soft, and her eyes were the clearest, most wonderful blue...he stopped himself. Her eyes were blue. Plain, ordinary, everyday blue. Wufei decided that blue was his new (and first) favorite color. She met his gaze as she passed by on the way to her seat, and he frowned at her before looking away. He had no right to be feeling the way he was. He had a responsibility as a gundam pilot to never get entangled in trivial things such as emotions, no matter how pretty the new girl in class was. _______________________________________________________________ "Wufei, wait." The Chinese boy stopped as his blonde comrade ran up beside him. "What?" "Are you going home?" "Where else would I be going?" He didn't really feel like dealing with Quatre's tries at friendship at the moment. Not when he'd already found himself too close to the point of weakness once today. "I don't know. Hey, you wanna hear something strange? All three of the new girls have the same address." "How did you get-" he stopped, deciding he was sounding too interested. "I'm the one-man welcoming committee for our class," Quatre said proudly. "I'm going to stop by and give them a friendly welcome. I know how hard it is to be new in town. Why don't you come?" He should refuse, he had no reason to go visiting weak onna's who he didn't even know. He should be at home, thinking of ways to further protect the colonies. Then he remembered Usagi's eyes, so kind and warm. Almost as if she could understand anyone. He shook his head, but couldn't stop himself from saying, "Sure I guess. Better than doing weak homework." ___________________________________________________________________ Quatre knocked on the door of the house. A surprisingly large house for three girls. A nice car stood in the driveway. The door opened with a start and standing before them was a blonde man a little older than them. "What do you want?" he asked. "May I speak to Hino Rei, Aino Minako, or Tsukino Usagi please?" "What do you want with koneko-chan?" He didn't sound like he was going to let them in. "Who's at the door, Haruka?" a sweet voice asked from inside the house. A hand squeezed past the boy (who was obviously trying to block whoever it was) and clutched the doorframe. The person behind 'Haruka' began to laugh. "Haruka! Let me through!" He sighed and moved over and the girl who'd been talking squeezed into view. It was Usagi. She eyed Quatre and Wufei, her face going pale. For some reason, she was afraid of their presence at her front door. Both boys wondered why, and Quatre began to talk quickly to explain why they were there. "Hello, miss. My name is Winner Quatre, (now that sounds strange, doesn't it?) and my companion is Chang Wufei. I'm here to welcome you to our school." Usagi smiled. "Oh! Thanks a lot. Do you want to come in?" Quatre glanced at Wufei who rolled his eyes and shrugged, stuffing his hands into his pockets as if he didn't care, despite the fact he wanted very much to go into Usagi's house. He wanted to know everything about her that he could. The two followed her and the boy through a small hallway and into what was obviously the living room. In the room were girls. Lots of girls. Wufei was glad Duo hadn't joined them or else they would, without a doubt, be kicked out and have their visit abruptly ended. Haruka made an unhappy sound and pulled off the jacket of his school uniform. Suddenly the two boys realized Haruka was not a boy. "He" was a "she." "Why's it so hot in here?" she asked, sounding a little annoyed. "Our first day here and the air conditioner is busted," answered Minako, who was sprawled out on an easy chair. "I'm gonna call a repair man tomorrow." "Don't bother. If I can fix a car engine, this will be no problem. You want to help, Makoto?" A brunette flipping through a recipe book looked up. "Get my hands all greasy doing men's work? You bet." She stood and the two exited the room. "Um, everyone, this is Wufei and Quatre. Guys, you already know Minako and Rei, and Makoto and Haruka just left, but that's Hotaru, Michiru, Ami...who better not be studying. Girl, you're already twenty chapters ahead. It's time to have some fun now." The blue haired girl smiled shyly and put away her book, obviously glad to be included. "And then there's...where's Sestuna?" "Off somewhere causing mischief," Michiru replied carelessly. "Oh." Usagi turned back to the boys. "Make yourselves comfortable. You should stay for dinner. Mako-chan is the best cook in the world, and I'm sure she already has something yummy planned to make just as soon as she and Haruka finish with the air conditioner." With that, she plopped down on the floor. "We can play a game." They did. They played several games, in fact. Usagi didn't win any of them, but you would have thought she had by the way she was laughing and enjoying herself. It didn't take much time for Wufei to notice how she included all the girls who were as different as night and day) in whatever was going on, but it was a whole hour before he noticed she'd brought him in, too. It was amazing. He wasn't worried about looking weak. There was definitely something to this girl. ___________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________ To be continued Email is a good thing. Please don't be afraid. I don't bite....anymore.
