sister earth 6
Well, I've been working on my new fic,
"Searching," so much that I felt guilty and
decided to give this one some attention,
even though it's ahead a little. (Wait, no,
it's not...) I did start it first, so it
should rightfully be finished before
"Searching" is, ne? Anyway, I'm having some
problems getting things to fall into place
right for this, but I did with "Soulmate,"
too, and that ended up good. Huh, I just
noticed that all my fics start with S's.
Oh well. I seem to remember mostly all my
fics on Lady Spring's page starting with
B's....odd. But, you know, I *am* the
weirdest person in the world, so I guess
it's okay. =)
Um, sorry, I don't own anything, so you'll have to find someone else to
sue. I have seven dollars left from taking my dad out for his birthday, and
fifteen dollars I have to save until Ranma1/2 volume 1 comes in. You can't
have that money. Besides, my daddy works for the IRS, so...you know, he can
audit you and stuff.
Sister Earth
Part six

Usagi nervously paced the length of her room,
ringing her hands in worry. Did she look okay?
Would Wufei like her dress? Why had he even asked
her? Why had she said yes? No one knew they were
going together to the dance. They hadn't told
anyone because they didn't want to get teased.
The girls had already left after threatening her
that she better come or else.
Did she look okay?
Arg! Waiting was torture. He shouldn't have
asked her, he really shouldn't have. He had no
idea about the way he made her feel.
She sobered, thinking about how she had decided
not to fall in love again after Mamoru. But Wufei
was different from Mamoru...
Just because he asked her to the dance didn't
mean he was in love with her though! That was just
silly. He probably thought of her as a good friend
he could take so the others wouldn't give him a
hard time.
Yeah, that was probably it. There was no way
he was in love with her...
Too bad she was in love with him.
With a sigh, Usagi began to mess with her hair,
which she had left down with little plastic jewels
stuck haphazardly in it everywhere. Her dress was
white with just a slight shimmer of silver over it,
and it had a small peasant-style tie up in the front.
She kept her makeup light because she didn't really
like makeup.
Was she forgetting anything?
Shoes.
When going to a dance, you need shoes.
She somehow had the feeling that things were
not going to go very smoothly.

Wufei pulled up to Usagi's house feeling edgy.
Why on earth and in the colonies had he asked her?
He didn't need to have a date. The others had just
wanted him to go to the dance because they didn't
want people to get suspicious. They didn't say he
needed to ask anyone.
Well, Duo had said something about it, but
whoever listens to that moron?
This was his chance though. A real date with
Usagi at last. She probably wouldn't think of it as
a date, just a friend thing, but he would remember
it forever.
She was everything he ever dreamed of, when he'd
allow himself to dream, and for a few hours, she
would be his. She didn't think feelings were a
weakness, and he believed her. If she thought
something was right, it had to be right. No one so
pure could get something as important as emotions
wrong.
He grabbed the white rose he'd bought for her
off the seat, and momentarily hesitated. He shouldn't
have gotten her a flower...
He had to force himself to get out of the car,
cursing his weakness. He could go up against a
hundred Leo's without a worry, but he couldn't go
and get one girl?
One girl who he'd trade anything for. The
colonies, Shenlong. Nothing was as important as her.
A few months ago, he would have been disgusted with
himself for that thought. Tt was weak according to
his old standards, but now it wasn't.
And if it was?
He didn't care.
The only thing that bothered him was the way
she had cried after he had asked her.
He knocked on the door and it was opened almost
immediately. Usagi smiled brightly and hugged him,
surprising them both.
But it felt really good to hold her.
She pulled out of the embrace, blushing. "Sorry,"
she muttered.
"That's okay. Oh, here." He handed her the rose
and she blushed even deeper.
Cute....
"Thanks."
"You look really beautiful," he said honestly as
they walked to the car. He hesitated a moment, then
decided to ask her the question that had been plaguing
him for days. "Why did you cry?"
She stopped walking and stared out ahead. "Oh,
right. Um, I'm sorry I did that."
"I'm not asking for an apology, I'm asking for a reason."
She looked up at the stars and smiled slightly.
"I just... Before I came here, my boyfriend broke up
with me. It was really unexpected and it hurt a lot,
but the moron didn't even realize it. I thought
something must be wrong with me for him to want to see
other people, and I know that once you get to know me
better, you'll feel the same way. I'm not meant for
happiness. Fate hates me."
"Then why did you say yes?"
"Because I have to take every chance I can get to
cheat destiny. I really like you, Wufei, and if there
can be a time, no matter how short, where I can be
happy, I'll take it."
He held open the car door for her. "There's nothing
wrong with you, Usagi," he said as she climbed in.
"That guy was weak and stupid. It's injustice that you
can't be happy, and I'll prove it to you."
He closed the door before she could answer.

Rei and the other Inner Senshi stood together at
the dance, utterly bored out of their minds. They'd
each come with a date, but none of them had worked
out, and now they were all alone.
Minako and Rei had come with jocks, the two most
popular guys in school in fact, but once they were at
the school, the guys had left them for their old
girlfriends who they had broken up with and then made
up with every other day just so they would be
considered cool.
Makoto had come with the class clown who she said
"looked exactly like her old boyfriend." He'd tried to
get her to go into the backroom of the auditorium with
him and make out, but when she gave him a bloody nose
and a black eye, he's given up. Now he had disappeared
into the backroom with one of the health students.
Ami's date had been the smartest guy in school, but
that hadn't worked out because he had tried to mix just
the right chemicals to turn everyone at the dance green.
It was some kind of revenge at the preps for making fun
of his brain power. He'd been stopped when Ami
"accidentally" locked him and his buddies in a broom
closet.
So now the girls stood together by the punch bowl,
the only ones without dates.
Well, not the only ones. All of the Gundam pilots
except Wufei were also at the dance, standing together
in a tight group in a corner. Trowa and Heero were
looking exceptionally antisocial, while Duo kept flirting
with every girl who walked by, and Quatre kept saving him
from the girl's boyfriends.
At first, the girls had tried to go over there and
hang out with them. They were all supposed to be friends,
right?
Wrong. Without Usagi, it somehow didn't work.
That didn't just go for the Gundam pilots, it went
for the Outer Senshi, too. Haruka and Michiru were dancing
and completely ignoring them. The other two weren't there.
Sestuna had taken Hotaru to see a movie.
Thump thump thump
"Ami, stop hitting your head against the wall. It
isn't that bad," Minako said, trying to pry her away.
"I" thump "Am" thump "So" thump "Bored!" thump thump!
"Okay, Ames, time to sit down for a while. You want
some more punch? Here, drink some more punch. There,
that's a good girl." Minako looked up at the other girls
with a worried expression on her face.
"I might join her in a minute," Makoto muttered.
"I miss home where you couldn't have a dance like this
without something ugly coming to try to steal all the
energy. I need some action."
"Well, Mako-chan, your date is probably in the
backroom. I'm sure he wouldn't mind giving you some
action," Rei said dryly.
"I am not that kind of girl!" Makoto protested, blushing.
Minako began watching the door, looking for any
single guy to walk through while, at the same time,
checking out everyone else's dress.
Then Usagi walked in, arm linked with the last
person in the world anyone in the school had thought
she would be with.
Minako wasn't the only one to notice. The room
went completely quiet, which is some feat considering
how many people were in there.
Wufei, who hated women, who pretty much hated people
in general, one of the most antisocial guys there was,
had a date with the cute new girl.
The cute new girl who seemingly didn't notice that
she was being stared at by the entire school.
The two went straight to the pilot's group, and
were bombarded with questions. Rei pulled the other
girls with her and they went over to the group as well.
"So this is why you were late!" Duo laughed. "Well,
Wu-man, didn't know you had it in you! A date!"
Wufei's normal response would have been a "shut up,
you weak baka!" but this time, he merely smiled slightly
and didn't answer. But Usagi did.
"I don't see you with anyone, Duo," she teased.
"Well, you know, all the girls want me so bad, I
couldn't choose just one. It would make everyone else
jealous."
"I could tell by the way they were all ignoring you."
There was a loud snort from the side and everyone
looked to see a very red-faced Heero trying very hard
not to laugh.
Quatre gave him a worried look. "Are you okay,
Heero? Are you choking on something? I know CPR.."
Heero's face got even redder. He covered his mouth
with his hands and stuck his face into a corner.
Quatre looked at everyone else. "Guys, I think we
should call an ambulance. He might be dying!"
Another loud snort and barely contained noise that
sounded something like a giggle.
A giggle? From Heero?
Then there came a very loud and annoying screech and
Minako cursed herself for letting her eyes off the door.
Relina whatever-her-last-name-is-right-now ploughed
through the group. "Heero! You have to dance with me!"
Heero turned to her, redder than Mars's fuku could
ever hope to be, and laughed in her face. Then he simply
left, walking away.
The sound of Heero laughing was just too much. Relina
fainted. (not like anyone cares though)
"Ugh, what an ugly dress," Minako muttered. Ami
hiccupped loudly.
"This is such a fun dance!" hiccup. "Will you dance
with me, Mako-chan?"
"No. Ami, is that punch spiked? Let me see your glass."
"No! It's mine! It's my friend! Leave us alone!"
she teetered a moment, her eyes visibly swirling. "Ugh,
I think I'm gonna puke! Outta My WAY!"
Makoto grabbed her by the shoulders and escorted her
to the ladies restroom.
Minako looked over at Usagi and Wufei who were
standing awfully close to each other. Suddenly, an
idea began to form in her head. She wasn't the Senshi
of love for nothing!
"Rei-chan.." she began to whisper in the ravenhaired
girl's ear. She, in turn, nodded and walked over to the
live band that was playing. Within moments, a very slow
and very romantic song began to play. "Ohh!" Minako
squealed. "Usagi, you and Wufei should go and dance! You
can't come here together and *not* dance!"
"But..."
She ruthlessly shoved the unsuspecting couple out
onto the middle of the dance floor. "Have fun!" she
called, blowing a small kiss at them.
They knew that unless they danced, she would never
leave them alone, so Wufei took Usagi into his arms.
If Wufei had wanted to keep his reputation as a
cold-hearted woman-hater, then dancing with Usagi was
the worst thing to do. It wasn't the dancing, exactly,
it's what the dancing led to.
You see, Wufei couldn't have stopped himself from
holding Usagi as close as possible if he wanted to.
But he didn't want to.
Usagi sighed and laid her head on his shoulder.
"It's been so long since I've been held..."
He smiled and rested his chin in her hair, convinced
he was in heaven. "I'll hold you whenever you want, Usagi."
She looked up at him, eyes sparkling. "You mean that?"
He did the only thing that could possibly come
next. He kissed her.
If it's possible for a room full of a couple hundred
people to gasp all at the same time, then that's probably
what happened. But if it did happen, then neither Usagi
nor Wufei noticed it.
Wufei broke off the kiss and leaned down to her ear.
"Don't you ever leave me. Please."
"I don't want to be alone anymore, Wufei," she
whispered back. "How do I know you won't hurt me like
Mamoru did?"
"I swear by my honor that I will love you forever.
There could never be anyone else."
He was stopped from saying more by Usagi pressing her
lips to his. "I love you."
Off to the side, Rei and Minako clasped hands and
jumped up and down happily. "We did it!" they screeched
triumphantly, neither thinking that perhaps Usagi and
Wufei were already in love. Quatre joined in their
celebrations, laughing with joy.
They couldn't hear what was being said, but what was
going on was obvious by the way the two were holding each
other.
Trowa smiled slightly, and Duo sputtered angrily about
Wufei getting a girlfriend before he did.
All this was interrupted by the annoying beeping
everyone had been dreading the entire night. Only thing
was, it wasn't coming from the Gundam pilots.
Wufei pulled back, staring at Usagi. She gave him a
look of horror before pulling a small watch out of nowhere.
"Yes?" she asked hesitantly.
"Serenity, is that you?"
"Fireball...now's not a good time."
"I need you and the Senshi to come to my planet ASAP.
It's an emergency. I've just learned of some new information
that could greatly help with your mission."
Usagi sighed. She could pretend to be normal until
she was blue in the face, but it would never be true.
"All right, princess, we'll be there."
"Sestuna is on her way to get you." As if on cue,
the Senshi of Pluto crashed through the ceiling. "Hurry
and transform. See you soon."
"Wait! What about all the people?"
"I shall take care of them. Just hurry."
The screen went blank.
"Usagi! Come on!" Rei shouted. Somehow, she and the
others had already transformed and Usagi hadn't even
realized it.
"Moon Eternal Makeup!"
Through the mists and swirling power, Usagi could
see Wufei look at her with complete disbelief.
She'd lose him forever now. Her time of happiness was
once again cut short by fate.
