part 4

Back again! Is this a good thing or a bad thing? I declare, I haven't
gotten any mail on this one. Not even because of the fact I'm new to this
page. Ya'll know you can tell me anything, even "This sucks, don't quit your
day job, Kit!" Really, even that would be appreciated. Well, I guess I
haven't been up that long though. I'll consider that, and keep hoping for
feedback. Well, I've got nothing else to say, so on with Part Four.

Soulmate
Part Four

_____________________________________________________________________

Ranma stared in shock as Ryoga wasn't the only one who'd changed. A
man stood in Usagi's place. His jaw was clenched in anger, his eyes cold.
Calmly he reached behind him and rung out his shoulder-length hair, turned,
and began to walk down the sidewalk.
      "Usagi?" Ranma asked.
The man stopped. "Urou." he corrected quietly, then continued on his
way. On the ground P-chan looked up and gave a small snort.
"Aw, shaddup! Whadda you know?" Ranma turned and went into the house,
slamming the door in the tiny pig's face. Inside, everyone was sitting
around the table talking about the fight. They all turned at Ranma's
approach.
"Hey, Ranma, any objections to me selling tickets to your training
sessions?" Nabiki asked.
Ranma growled and shouted something no one could understand, then
split the kitchen table with his fist before stalking back into his room.
Panda-Genma scribbled furiously, then held up his sign.
      {What's his problem?}

"Ranma?" Akane asked, looking up at her fiancee who was walking on the
fence as usual.
"What?" he responded gruffly. It was the day after his little training
session with Dr. Tofu's niece, and he'd been kinda, well actually, very
antisocial ever since....oh, about the time he broke the table. He couldn't
really explain his mood. He himself didn't understand why he was acting this
way, but he didn't want to be bothered by anybody.
      "You ok?"
"Yeah, fine. What do you want?"
"I was thinking...." she looked down, blushing a little. "The whole
engagement thing, well, it wasn't either of our ideas, and you're an ok
friend sometimes, but I don't want to marry you."
Ranma stopped and looked at her. "I already knew that. Get to the
point."
"Well, there's this guy...I'm kinda interested in and you seem to like
Usagi, so I was thinking that maybe we could call everything off." She
stopped and looked at him, dismayed to find she couldn't read his
expression. She continued, talking quickly. "If either of ours doesn't work
out, we can go back to our parent's plans."
      Ranma grunted and looked away.
"Ranma? Is that ok with you?"
      "Fine, it's just..."
"Usagi's the reason why you're mad?"
He jumped off the fence. "She's cursed," he said, betraying no
emotions. "Like me."
"Whaaat?? Oh my gosh! What does she...I mean what does she turn into?
I can imagine her a mouse, or," she giggled. "A bunny."
      "A guy."
      "She....and you..." Akane laughed.
They were quiet for a few minutes.
"Is it really that big of a deal?"
"No, actually...but what about my curse?"
"They sorta correspond. You two are perfect for each other, besides,
if you were kissing and it started to rain, no one would look at you funny
'cause it'd still be a guy and a girl."
"But I'd be kissing a guy!" Ranma stuck out his tongue. A little old
lady passing them on the sidewalk gave him a look and began to walk quicker.
"Ranma, do you think of yourself as a girl when you're Ranko?"
      "No, but.."
"Do you think of Mousse as a duck?"
      "Not really..."
"Do you think of Shampoo as a cat?"
Ranma shivered. "Of course I do."
"Well, two out of three isn't bad. The point is, Usagi is a girl, no
matter what the curse makes her look like."
      "It still sounds gross."
"Do you want to remain engaged to me?"
      "No offense, but NO!"
"Okay then, go after the girl you like."
"Usagi..." he mumbled. "Just one question."
      "Ok."
"Do you think she likes me?"
Akane laughed and swatted at Ranma who jumped back onto the fence.
They were quiet for a few moments, then:
"So, who's this guy?" Ranma asked. When Akane told him, she couldn't
figure out why he burst into laughter.
"What? Ok, so you and Ryoga aren't exactly the best of friends, but
he's cute. Will you quit laughing? It's really getting on my nerves." She
said through clenched teeth. "Ranma! Stop that! It isn't funny! What? Is
there something wrong with him?"
"Tonight..." "tell..." "P-chan who you like." Ranma
fell off the fence because he was laughing so hard.
"Why does P-chan need to know? Ranma, quit laughing or I'll leave you
here! I swear! Fine then, be late to school, see if I care!" She stalked
off, leaving a helpless Ranma to fend for himself.

To be continued
I know this one is a bit shorter then the others (at least I think it is).
Sorry. And there isn't a cliffhanger this time. Sorry again. Hope nobody
cares that I split up Ranma and Akane, and if you do care, write and tell
me.
Say! That's a good idea!
