part 4

Hi, I'm back again. Ahhh! Noo! Um, anyway,
I've caught a mistake I made in the first
chapter that I didn't even know I'd made. I
called the fic "Changing Lives" in the 'lil
part where I repeat the name for the millionth
time. Sorry, that's originally what it was
going to be called, but then I changed it and
I guess I just missed that part. I've gotten
feedback! Ok, so it was only one thing, but
one is better then none, ne? You don't know
how happy that has made me. I don't remember
if I responded or not. I usually try to, and
if I did I don't remember what I said, but,
to the person who wrote me, Thank You! You
have made my day!

Soulmate
Part five

_____________________________________________________________________

By the time Ranma finally got to school,
still chuckling and promising himself he would
tease Ryoga to no end the next time he saw him,
Akane had already found Usagi and the two were
talking along with several of Akane's friends.
Some guys were hanging around the group as well,
trying to get a good look at the cute new girl.
Usagi was all smiles, talking to anyone who
craved her attention and bestowing her radiant
smiles on everyone. Ranma noticed she had a
large gym bag with her that had the name of
her old high school on it right before someone
asked her about it.
"Are you going to try out for a team, Usagi-
san?" a girl, who happened to be the captain of
practically every sports team the school had,
asked hopefully.
Usagi laughed. "I don't know, I might, but
I'm afraid I'm a bit clumsy."
"Maybe the swim team," the girl offered.
"You look like you're a good swimmer, and you
don't need too much coordination for that."
"I...don't like water." Usagi said quickly.
"Oh, well, I'll figure something out." The
girl promised as the bell rang.
Ranma hurried to catch up with Usagi, then
wondered why he had. he thought.
Usagi turned to him unexpectedly and smiled
brightly. "Good morning, Ranma. How are you
feeling today?"
"Um, fine, I guess. How about you?"
"I want to talk to you later. Promise you'll
meet me after school," she said quietly, staring
ahead of her.
"Ok. Don't we train after school?"
"Walk me to the dojo," she said in the same
quiet tone.
"Ok. Hey, you aren't mad at me about...are
you?"
"No, but that's what I want to talk about."
"How can you not be mad?"
"I don't get angry often, and when I do, it
never lasts."
"Oh." He said, at the same time thinking

"This is my homeroom." Usagi stopped. "See
you after school Ranma. Don't forget or I'll
have to punish you." She winked and went into
the room, leaving Ranma to wonder just where
that corny comment came from.
Throughout the day Ranma found himself
thinking about her, and almost got beaten by
Kuno during lunch, such was the extent of his
distraction. he
thought. Never in all his life had Ranma been
so interested in a girl. Especially one who
showed no hint of attraction toward him besides
the sweetness she gave everybody.
Ranma checked his watch. He was a few
minutes late meeting Usagi, and almost felt
like running, but didn't. He could see her
ahead, leaning back against a wall, waiting
for him.
"Sorry, I'm late," he said when he finally
reached her.
Usagi shrugged. "I shouldn't be one to
complain. I've kept friends waiting plenty of
times. Let's walk."
"What did you want to talk to me about?"
He asked with a little hesitation.
"What in the world made you throw that
water?" She asked with a sigh.
"Well, Ryoga...didn't you see him? He turned
into a pig. I guess I wanted to embarrass him,
you know? I had no idea that you..."
"So Ryoga's been to Jusenkyo?"
"He followed me there, yes."
"He...followed...does that mean you're
cursed, too?"
"Unfortunately."
"Ohh! I'm so happy!" She said, throwing his
arms around his neck. She pulled back quickly, a
blush staining her cheeks. "It's just not so bad
when you know you aren't the only one." She
explained. "So, are you and Ryoga...I mean, are
there others?"
"Yes, Umm, Shampoo, Mousse, and that panda you
saw is my dad."
"Oh...your dad? That's gotta be weird."
"Like everything else isn't?"
"True. But why was he a panda when I met him?"
"He just likes to be a panda. I have no idea
why. He always tries to find a cure, but I think
he'd miss it if he lost it."
"Would you miss yours?"
"Definitely not! Well, except for all the free
food I get."
"What are you? You know, in your cursed form."
Ranma hung his head and mumbled something.
"What? I didn't hear you."
"I said I turn into a girl!" he shouted.
The same little old lady that had been walking
by Ranma and Akane that morning glanced at him
fearfully and sped up, muttering something about
the world going to crack as she passed them.

To be continued. Ok, I know that this and the
last part are slow and short and don't really
help the story line around much, but the next
part will be better, I promise, and I'll try
really hard to have a surprise in it and a
killer cliffhanger. Just be patient.
