| 1/28- Ponseti casting #8- Her right food is ready for surgery and has been for a couple of weeks. It was also our last visit at the Lexington Hospital. We had to say goodbye to Dr. Tallwalkar and Freddy. 2/7- Ponsetti casting #9- Back at the Shriners in Salt Lake City. Both of her feet are ready for surgery. So we are scheduled to go back 2/20 and have surgery 2/21. 2/10- Well so much for going back 2/20 Kayleigh, Kathy and me are all sick with head colds. So now I will have to call Wade in the morning to see if he feels we should just schedule us to come up 2/27 and have surgery 2/28. 2/11- Well surgery was cancelled because Kathy is sick. So now we don't go till May sometime. So we'll go here for cast changes every 2 weeks. 4/11- Well update on us. Kathy is scheduled for surgery on 4/24. So we'll be driving to Phoenix the evening of 4/22, then fly to Salt Lake City 4/23 and she'll be admitted to the hospital that afternoon. Then we'll fly home 4/25. Then 3 weeks later it's back to SLC to have the casts removed and get the dennis browne bar. 4/23- What a day!! The anethesiologies couldn't decide if Kathy could have surgery or not. So she was given a dose of prednisone after dinner. They came in to check her vitals all night long. 4/24- Kathy started screaming right before 5 am because she wanted to eat, but couldn't because of the surgery. Finally about 8:30 am they decided she would have the surgery. So about 9 am I carried her back to the surgery area. When they came to take her to surgery I walked back to our room in tears. It was so hard handing my baby over to the dr's. She came out of surgery just fine. Dr Santora said she did great. Poor thing was screaming after surgery because she was hungry, but she gave up and went to sleep. Poor baby slept till about 1 pm when she finally woke up to nurse. Then she was back to her happy self. Only change was she had and IV and big ol purple casts. 4/25- Well we were released from the hospital. We spent the morning/afternoon w/ an online friend, Kirsten. Had a great time. Then it was the flight home. It was so nice to be back in our own bed. We go back in 4 wks to have the casts removed and to get the dennis brown bar. 5/10- Made the trip back to SLC to get the casts removed. Kathy's feet look great. She is now wearing the DBB full time, her shoes are a size 000. 5/11- oh what a night!!! She is not adjusting very well:( 9/ - Can't remember the date but we had a checkup at the Shriners Clinic in Phoenix. She is doing great:) 1/03 - Another clinic visit we saw Dr Santora and he said she doing great. We also had to order new shoes, up to a size 0 now. 1/03 - Kathy saw her pediatrician for her late 15 month appt. Dr McGarey agreed that she is also concerned about Kathy not standing on her own. So Kathy is being refered to physical therapy. 1/22/03- We met Brett the physical therapist. He evaluated Kathy and said she had the gross motor development of a 9 month old. So we are working on getting her past her feet being so sensitive. So we have homework to work on making her stand. Then we'll see Brett every 2 weeks for now. 1/24/03- Kathy got her new shoes today. Boy what a difference they make:) 2/24/03- Kathy had an appt w/ Brett for P.T. Shes doing great. Starting to get brave:) He says about 2-3 more months and she'll be walking!! 3/1/03- Kathy pulled herself to standing on our bed while playing with daddy!!!! WOO HOO!!! 9/12/03- Outreach Clinic appt w/ Dr Santora. He feels her tendons are still tight in the front of her feet. He feels she is going to need another surgery:( Also Kathy was fitted for AFO's today too. 9/26/03- back down to PHoenix to pick up the AFO's they are soo cute. Now to get her use to them. 10/8/03- Kathy walked w/ her Afo's on from the playground to Kayleigh's class and then from Kayleigh's class to the van:) YEah it's a step in the right direction!!! 2/7/04- Kathy is having another surgery on Feb 17th at Shriner's in Salt Lake City, Utah. The tendons in the size of her feet are still really tight. So Dr Santora feels it's time to release them so she can walk flat on her feet. We're heading up to SLC Feb 11th and we'll be there till Feb 25th when she has a cast change. 2/17/04- Surgery Day! Kathy did GREAT!! Tonight she was laughing with Nana while we were gone eating dinner. Dr Santora feels surgery will be a success. 2/25/04- back to Shriners for the cast change. We were able to leave Salt Lake by 2pm to start heading back home:) 4/1/04- Cast removal day!! Her feet look AWESOME!!! What a difference. THere is a pic of her beautiful feet on the 2nd club foot pics page. Now she is in knee high casts till the first part of May. |
