The Dawn & Mary Show | |||||||||||||||||||
Dawn and Mary are the best of friends, but sometimes even good friends respectfully disagree. We would like to share some of our issues with the world who may learn something from our experiences to apply to their own circumstances. Perhaps you have some advice to give us as well. We are already on ISSUE #2: PRECIOUS GEMS!!!!!!! Dawn likes jewlery.... alot! I think she likes it a bit too much. How can you tell if you have a problem with temptation?? How can you tell if your friend does?? I think Dawn has a major problem with this issue but refuses to admit it. Why? Because she has in so many words and on many occasions told me so herself. On other occasions (like today) she thinks there is "no problem". This inconsistancy concerns me as well. I wonder what the Bible has to say??? *************************** RESOLVED ISSUES: ISSUE # 1: THE WEATHER On the heels of hurricane Wilma and Alpha we disagree with who is the best meteorologist, hers or mine. I say Jim Cantore rocks... Dawn says Mark Murray does. Just a little background on this, Dawn religiously watches Mark on KVUE in Austin to get both ordinary local weather reports and insight into major storms like Wilma. I religiously tune in to the Weather Channel to get glimpses of Jim in the eye of the storm, and hear his careful insights. So we decided to turn it over to the experts themselves to help us resolve this issue. Unfortunately, I was not able to figure out how to email Jim, but Dawn found Mark's email. On Friday, October 21, we emailed him and we got results... Mark, My friend thinks you are an awesome meteorologist but I am a cable junkie and my favorite meteorologist is Jim Cantore. We are currently in the midst of disputing the issue as to whether her weather person is better than mine. And also we want to know what do you personally think of the accuracy of Jim Cantore's forecasting abilities, and finally, we want to know if you had the chance to make more money to stand in the middle of the storm like Jim if you would go for it. Thanks much, Dawn and Mary Late that evening we got the following reply... Dear Mary, Listen to Dawn. She obviously is a very smart woman! O.K., seriously, I'm flattered that you've mentioned me in the same e-mail with Jim Cantore. I think he's great. In fact, we hung out together one night in New Orleans at the American Meteorological Society meeting last summer. In my opinion, when it comes to reporting live from big storms, there is no one better. It's tough to compare what I do with what Jim does. His textbook knowledge of how the weather works means his live reports are accurate and reliable. But, most of the actual forecasting is left to the other meteorologists back at The Weather Channel where they have access to their computers and other forecasting tools. Of course, that's my primary responsibility here at KVUE...making an accurate forecast. Would I like to go around the country chasing storms? Sure! But, as Chief Meteorologist, my place is here at the station, helping viewers stay safe when those storms hit. Great to hear from you both! Write anytime... Mark ***************************** So firstly we just want to say "Thanks Mark for your quick reply and insightful advice." And to Jim well, we haven't given up yet. Someday we will get our chance to ask you the questions that keep us awake at night as well. And finally, if there is anybody who has learned from this or wants to give us some advice, go for it!
