Lullabies

When I first asked my Japanese husband to teach me some Japanese lullabies (komoriuta), his first reaction was "there aren`t any."

I knew he had to be wrong. How could a country with over a 1000 year history not have lullabies?

Anyway, since then, he`s remembered camp songs, children`s songs and other snippets of melody that can pass as lullabies. Here are four of them.

In our house, we are doing the one parent/one language style of bringing up Mia. (In an attempt to make her bilingual Japanese/English.) The only exceptions to this are that I will sing Japanese songs to her (at her request) in Japanese, and I will read Japanese books to her.

This may backfire on me language-wise later, but for now, it is too hard to resist her when she asks for a certain song.
