CALAVERA STRING PUPPETS

This is a fun activity for students to do. Copy and enlarge the drawing of the calavera--the bride for the girls, and the man for the boys. Students can color the hats and then "dress" the skeletons for the occasion. Ask students before you begin the activity to bring in scraps of fabric to use to dress the calaveras. You will also need some string and brass brads to connect the legs and arms to the body. Attach strings to the arms and the legs. Leave the string loose so the skeletons can "dance and move". The finished skeletons make great decorations to place around the bulletin boards and over the chalk board.
