GUIDE GADABOUT |
GUIDE GADABOUT is a biennial event conceived and organised by Mrs Ann James (currently Cleveland County Commissioner) and her husband Keith. Guides from Yarm and Stockton Districts take part, in teams of five. Teams have to cover a route looping approximately 10 miles around Yarm and Eaglescliffe, completing challenges at each of 14 checkpoints. Checkpoints were manned by Guiders and other adults. There was also a safety backup team touring the route to help with any problems. At the end of a tiring day, everyone met up at the Parish Hall in Egglescliffe for hot soup and the awards ceremony. All participants received a certificate. The event in 2002 was won by one of the teams from 1st Yarm Guides. This year it was another district's turn - it has never been outside Yarm before! Thanks to Mr and Mrs James for all their hard work in organising such an enjoyable and successful event. We are all looking forward to the next one! |
