He started catching sharks in 1997 at WL in his 12.5 foot bavelo (tin canoe).
He has since caught 40 sharks in WL, all 8 to 9 foot save 2.
He also started catching sharks at Narara Island this year 2000 and has caught
c15 sharks there before October. One took 17 men to pull onto shore. It had
a whole turtle and octopus inside. Yasawa sharks: iko walu, iko dole, iko
tulani iwi (thin). (What is Wayan for bronze whaler and white pointer?)
He won a Kadavu competition with a 49 kg yam. This year he grew a 94 kg yam!

He met my uncle Trevor 1946/7 when he leased the Adi Betty. Trevor put up a
tent at NL & trawled for tuna each day. Jone Norman and Savenaca Ratumeale
worked for him. c1947 he sent these 2 & 2 others to the US. They brought back
4 fishing boats. (This was a joint venture with aviator Paul Gatty who later
started Fiji Airways.) They had a total of 8 boats. An Englishman, Captain
Wright of the Fijian Army, joined them. Trevor later bought the Turaga Levu
boat and started the Blue Lagoon Cruise c1952 based at Yalobi where he built a
4 room house on Timoci Sayaba's land.
