Railcar approaching the Roberts Line crossing

A 'Wairarapa' class railcar that operated on the Wellington-Palmerston North route - via Woodville - approaches the Roberts Line crossing from Whakarongo, in 1942. This type of railcar (one of six on the route) operated on the line between 1936 and 1955. An identical one is presently being restored at Pahiatua. This photo was taken by Vera Cox (later Boman).

Nowadays this area is covered by housing - including the Rosalie Tce. subdivision.
