Roberts Line-Napier Road intersection c1938

Looking down the Roberts Line hill toward Napier Road in about 1938. Nowadays, Lakemba Park subdivision is on the right bank while the Rosalie Terrace area is on the left. The houses that front Roberts Line at this point date to a small subdivision that started in the late 1950s. The section of road on the hill itself, was once known as 'Andersen's Cutting'. It was built by Scandinavians using pick, shovel and wheelbarrow.  Andersen was the owner of an adjoining property (which now includes Lakemba Park and Toyota) that was later owned by the Robert family.
