Old Kelvin Grove Hall

The first Kelvin Grove Hall was built by the local community in Kelvin Grove Road in 1901, on a site next that was between the Kelvin Grove School (which is long gone now) and present-day Charisma Court. That hall burnt down in 1921 and in 1935 the hall shown below was built in its place. This hall was built using the plans of the Te Arakura Hall, which in turn was recently relocated and upgraded to become the Taonui Hall, alongside Taonui School.

The second Kelvin Grove Hall continued to serve the community until 1981, the year after the Kelvin Grove Community Centre arrived. At that time it was sold to the Buffalo Lodge. They eventually sold it again, and since that time it has served at least two different owners as a martial arts centre.
