Many new ideas have been developing ever since I decided to do a rewrite. Even though it has taken quite awhile for me to actually translate these ideas digitally in the form of new chapters, I sincerely believe that the wait is over. Chapter one is currently undergoing reconstruction and looks very different from the original chapter and all I can say to myself is, "It's about damn time!"
The following short segments were written by me to aid my writing. They are very short sketches that represent the varying characters in both Ranma 1/2 and Sailor Moon that will be seen in Uncles!. Most are straight-forward; however, some may give you a hint of things to come. Rest assured, there are no spoilers in any of the descriptions.
Characters:
Aino, Minako - A teen with a vivacious love of life, Minako lives in the here and now, constantly trying to experience as much of life as possible. Her strained relationship with her mother is not due to a lack of love but rather a huge difference in priorities. It is quite possible that she has more love to give than anyone else she knows, Usagi being the only exception.
Chiba, Mamoru - Though he goes by the name Mamoru, this young man still cannot remember anything before the fateful accident that claimed both of his parents and his memory. He knows and accepts the truth of his current life, loving both Usagi and Chibi-Usa as a lover and daughter respectively, but cannot ignore his own missing past. The day will come when he will seek out the knowledge necessary to fill in the gaps in his mind.
Chibi-Usa - The future daughter of Neo-Queen Serenity and King Endymion, Chibi-Usa tries her best to be mature but is still too much of a child for it to last. Like her mother, she gives her heart freely, having an unconscious ability to know just who to trust. Best friends of Hotaru, Chibi-Usa knows that she'll have to return to the 30th century eventually but is quite happy to enjoy her days in the present.
Cologne - One of the eight Elders of the Joketsuzoku, Cologne has stayed in Nerima for one reason: aid Shampoo in her pursuit of Ranma. As time progressed, a second reason formed: observe Ranma and study the events that unfold around him. Though she would still like her great-grandaughter and Ranma to wed, she understands something that most do not: through no fault of his own, Ranma is a walking disaster area. This has placed a major crimp on any formal marriage plans.
Happosai - Panties, bras and groping women, the life of Japan's biggest pervert is a fairly simple one. Still, this Master of the Anything Goes School is exactly that, a Master and he will fight tooth and nail to uphold that title. He has a grudging respect for Ranma, the only person who has consistently refused to cower before his might and openly defy his right to pursue his pleasures.
Hibiki, Ryoga - The Eternally Lost Boy has finally found a place he can never enter: the heart of Akane. Though he feels depressed by this fact, he heart is uplifted with thoughts of Akari. As a result of his altered outlook on life, he now treats Ranma less as an enemy and more as a friend.
Hino, Rei - A girl whose temperment matches her element, Rei is usually a very serious individual. Possessing a strange power that few understood, Rei, at first, found herself distrustful of the easy acceptance given to her by Usagi. Eventually, though, she was able to accept the friendship offered to her and has never regretted the decision. With Usagi's help, she may one day be able to move past the anger she still feels for her father.
Kaioh, Michiru - The elegant Michiru has found her partner and soulmate in the form of Haruka Tenou. It is from this union that Michiru was granted the strength to finally free herself from the shackles of familial strife that threatened to tear her apart in the past. Living with the other Outers has brought Michiru a sense of contentment that she thought impossible a few short years ago.
Kino, Makoto - After witnessing her parents' demise aboard a passenger plane, Makoto grew up very fast. Possessing a temper and an eagerness to let her fists do the talking, Makoto was kicked from a number of different schools before she finally transferred to Juuban Middle School. There, she met the girl who would become her savior and shining light: Usagi. Since that time, Makoto has rediscovered the love that everyone needs to live and grow in her friends and happily returns that love. A pillar of physical strength amongst the Inner Senshi, Makoto has promised herself that as long as she lives, no harm will befall any of her friends.
Kuno, Tatewaki - Nothing short of death can deter this noble samurai from his sacred duty to free Akane Tendo and the pigtailed girl from the clutches of the fiendish Ranma Saotome. Unfortunately for Kuno, some people are starting to realize this as well. If something is not done to convince this scion of the Kuno clan of the truth of the situation, someone might be tempted to use this rather permanent solution.
Kuno, Kodachi - Insane, spoiled and utterly convinced of her superiority, Kodachi is as warped as her brother when it comes to perceiving reality. One must wonder, though, what causes these two to behave in such a manner. If a reason is found and a cure possible, then perhaps the Kunos might become as powerful as they believe themselves to be currently.
Kuonji, Ukyo - Completely in love with Ranma, Ukyo is bound and determined to be the wife of the pig-tailed martial artist. Beautiful and talented, Ukyo remains tied to Nerima out of necessity, constantly reaching for the one thing that eludes her grasp.
Meioh, Setsuna - In the past, she was aloof and mysterious, bound by duty and obligation. Her rebirth in the 20th century has given Setsuna everything that she missed out on the first time around: family, friends, comrades and more. Essentially, she has been granted a life free from the Gates. Still, like all the Senshi, she understands that her first duty is the defense of her Queen and Princess.
Mizuno, Ami - The perpetually shy genius has blossomed into a lovely teen who, with her cadre of friends, defends Love and Justice whenever it is threatened. Ami remains the brains of the Inner Senshi, usually calm and collected, but opens up when surrounded by her friends. She has found her niche and no longer feels ostracized by her peers because of her intelligence.
Mousse - Even his thick glasses cannot help Mousse see reality, though there have been two incidents when his eyes were opened to the truth. The first was during the battle with Herb; the second was the battle of Jusendo. Both have weakened his belief that Ranma is the ultimate evil in the world. Perhaps in time, he and Ranma may become regular allies.
Saotome, Genma - Greedy, conniving and always quick to pass the buck to his only son, Genma is a man with few morals and even fewer redeeming qualities. One can only wonder what new problems will crop up in the present thanks to his past. Only one thing is known for certain: any problems that do surface will wind up affecting Ranma one way or the other.
Saotome, Nodoka - Having finally reunited with her only son, Nodoka is quite happy just to be near Ranma. Even though she would like to get closer to him, she really has no idea how to go about it. She remains a bit estranged from Ranma thanks to her views on duty and honor, views which were forcibly imposed upon her by her parents after an unfortunate incident years before she married Genma. A woman with a bitter past that has yet to be revealed, Nodoka remains torn between honoring family obligations and following her heart.
Saotome, Ranma - Studying martial arts almost exclusively for the past fourteen years does not make for a well-balanced life, as Ranma has discovered the hard way time and time again. Still, he does his best to cope while busying himself with whatever Fate has decided to throw at him this time. Ranma is a young man who is out of his element in everything except combat, but it is there he reigns supreme.
Shampoo - This deadly Amazon has fallen from favor in her tribe. Though the strongest in her generation, Shampoo has not returned to reaffirm that position, leaving others to believe that she has weakened considerably. She remains as fixated on Ranma as Mousse is on her.
Tendo, Akane - Stubborn as a mule and strong as an ox, Akane has potential that she has yet to discover and exploit. Easy to anger yet easy to forgive, this young woman has much to learn about life and love. Her capacity for love, however, is enormous.
Tendo, Kasumi - Forgiveness and calm acceptance describe the eldest Tendo daughter, though she remains chained to the past and cannot, or will not, escape into the present. With all that has happened in the past year and a half, one can only wonder just how much Kasumi can take before she breaks.
Tendo, Nabiki - Underhanded, manipulative and constantly on the move to make a yen or three, Nabiki appears to have little in the way of redeeming qualities herself. However, a conscience does exist in the middle Tendo daughter, though it remains buried beneath a lot of emotional pain and guilt. With the relationships in Nerima remaining unresolved, Nabiki is sure to find more amusing ways to entertain herself for some time.
Tendo, Soun - The death of his wife still looms over Soun, preventing him from rediscovering the man he used to be. Overly-emotional, this regularly weak-willed man becomes a firestorm of activity whenever one of his daughters is threatened. He cares deeply for his daughters though he is often blind to their real needs.
Tenou, Haruka - Strong-willed and very independent, the free-spirited Haruka has finally found focus in her life. She now has a family to call her own, friends who support her and a lover/soulmate to confide in. Beautiful, talented and wealthy, Haruka seems to have it all.
Tomoe, Hotaru - Pain, loneliness and bitterness were Hotaru's only companions for good portion of her life before her death and rebirth. Now, Hotaru is surrounded with friends and family who love and protect her and, quite frankly, she has never looked back. Wise beyond her years, Hotaru is still very much a young girl at heart. She enjoys life in the present and looks forward to the future, eager to aid her fellow Senshi to bring about the eventual peace that Crystal Tokyo will entail.
Tsukino, Usagi - For someone who started off as an emotional whiny junior high student, Usagi has come a long way, especially in terms of maturity. She has fully accepted her role as Sailor Moon and understands that not only is she the reincarnated Princess Serenity, but eventually she will become Neo-Queen Serenity. She is love, innocence and purity wrapped in a blanket of joy. She is the focus for the love of ten people who would willingly lay down their lives for her without hesitation or question. She is Usagi and right now, she is content.
Current events:
Following the Battle of Jusendo and the failed wedding attempt, things in Nerima have settled back to the mild roar it had become after Ranma first arrived: unusual and generally misguided or lonely spirits/ghosts/whatnots appearing at random intervals, more stupidity from Principal Kuno, the occassional martial arts challenger, regular displays of insane skills, etc. There are a few alterations to the "normal" routine, however:
Ranma - With his skills constantly improving and his power at their greatest height thus far, Ranma has begun to spend more and more time perfecting the Art. Though he has spent the greater part of fourteen years of his life completely immersed in the Art, Ranma feels that he has begun to slack off a bit in recent months. Right now, he is working on greater control of his chi abilities as well as perfecting his existing repertoire of special attacks. Others might find his new focus on the Art obssessive; Genma will see it as completely normal.
Nabiki - A few months ago, the Mercenary Tendo engaged in a finacial venture that to date has not panned out as well as she had originally hoped. This venture was, essentially, a mass-market distribution of Ranma-related paraphernelia to key locations throughout Tokyo. She has a plan to instill a new demand for her product, though, and the target for this plan is Azabu Juuban.
In Juuban, the Senshi has recently defeated the Queen Nephrenia and the Dead Moon Circus. Life has returned to normal for the girls. Michiru and Haruka have joined Usagi, Minako, Makoto and Ami in Juuban High School (Mugen Gakuen, their previous school, was reduced to rubble during the battle against Pharoah 90 and has yet to be recontructed). Rei still attends T•A Private School. Setsuna has taken a part-time job as the school nurse at Juuban Elementary where Hotaru and Chibi-Usa study. She still attends KO University, a year ahead of Mamoru who studies there as well. In addition:
Hotaru - Unlike her life before, Hotaru has lots of friends and is fairly popular at school. There is one unexpected development that has arisen, though: Hotaru has become an avid collector of anything related to Nerima's premire martial artist, Ranma Saotome. Even though the market is starting to wane, Hotaru remains his #1 fan.
