First Meeting....
September 5, 2001-First Meeting

{First scene: Antonio turns around and bumps right into Keri, knocking her books out of her arms}

Antonio: "Oh, sorry! Oh--here.."
Keri: "Thanks."
Antonio: (He looks at her face and recognizes her from "Hallowed Grounds") "I was hoping I'd run into you again." {Scene ends}

Antonio: (He gives her the books) "Here you go."
Keri: "Well, mission accomplished. You ran into me."
Antonio: "Oh, I didn't mean like this."
Keri : "Was their a bus involved?"
Antonio: "No, no..just coffee. I saw you at the coffee shop."
Keri: "Oh."
Antonio: "You new in town?"
Keri: "And how did you know that?"
Antonio: "Well, I know most people in this town, and it's my job to notice something out of the ordinary."
Keri: "And I'm out of the ordinary?"
Antonio: "Definitely." {Scene ends}
Keri: "Hmmmm...well, that could be good, or bad, couldn't it?"
Antonio: "Have coffee with me and you'll find out."
Keri: "You know? Actually, I noticed you, too. Are you a student here?"
Antonio: "No no!"
Keri: "So, you just roam the halls looking for things out of the ordinary."
Antonio: "I'm a few credits short of my law degree."
Keri: "Prepping yourself to chase ambulances?"
Antonio: "No, not exactly."
Keri: "So, what are you after?"
Antonio: "A professor to sign this sheet."
Keri: "'This student has completed this class or the equivalent.' What do you have to do?"
Antonio: "For what?"
Keri: "To get the credits?"
Antonio: "Nothing-I hope."
Keri: "Well, I've heard that they've been easing up on requirements here, but--"
Antonio: "Wait a minute-my case is a little different. Um, I have life credits."
Keri: "Life credits."
Antonio: "Yeah, I'm a police officer. So, I'm looking for things out of the ordinary."
Keri: "Right."
Antonio: "You, you seem a little surprised."
Keri: "No, I'm intrigued. I'm actually quite interested in crime myself." {Scene ends}

Antonio: "Your interested in crime?"
Keri: "Easy, officer, I don't commit it. I just study a lot about it."
Antonio: "Oh, well-if you ever need research-"
Keri: "You don't think that information might be a little one-sided?"
Antonio: "No. I know it wouldn't."
Keri: "Really?"
Antonio: "Well, I haven't always been a model citizen..."
Keri: "Life credits. Well, as great as that sounds, I'm not sure your time on both sides of the bars is a reason to give you credit for their cause." Antonio: "Well, I know they won't. But, this on will." Keri: "Why's that?"
Antonio: "She's a rookie."
Keri: "Therefore she doesn't know how to do her job."
Antonio: "Well, no rookie does. My first day in training my partner locked us together in our handcuffs and the couldn't find the keys."
Keri: "You're joking."
Keri: "Well, it's a lot funnier now then it was at the time."
Keri: "I'll bet."
Antonio: "All I'm saying is that she wouldn't even think of saying no. Or, she shouldn't. Look-being a cop teaches you a lot more than any class ever would, so I'll just tell her how many arrests I've made and she'll sign the paper and give me the credits and I'll get my promotion in the LPD."
Keri: "All's well that ends well."
Antonio: "Well, not exactly. See, you still haven't told me whether or not you'll have coffee with me."
{Scene ends on Keri trying to hide a smile}

Keri: "Yes, I'll have coffee with you. Meet me in student union in say, an hour."
Antonio: "Uh, where is it?"
Keri: "Get your rookie professor to tell you."
Antonio: "You don't mind waiting?"
Keri: "Actually, I have an appointment, too."
Antonio: "Great, so hopefully this Keri Reynolds won't keep me waiting."
Keri: "Excuse me..Keri Reynolds?"
Antonio: "Yeah, that's who I'm meeting with. She teaches sociology of crime. Um, why? Are you taking it, too?"
Keri: "No, I'm teaching it." (Holds out her hand.) "Keri Reynolds. Professor of Sociology of Crime." (Antonio looks shocked. End of scene)
