Chapter 25: Someone Else Knows

“Now who’s that guy?”

“The Rock.”

“And who’s the other giving the finger all the time?”

“Stone Cold Steve Austin.”

“I see.”

Lauralee and Alex were sitting on her Aunt Charlene’s couch, where Alex was getting a wrestling lesson from Dominic.  They were watching WWF Raw is War on television.  Alex had come into town for a couple of days, and then the others were coming to New York to do some work.  This was his second night in town, and Charlene had asked Lauralee if she could baby-sit while she was called into work.

When Lauralee said yes to babysitting, Charlene gave her a good reason why he should come over.  “Besides, I have gotta meet this guy.  If he’s as good as his voice, he must be good in so many other ways.”

“I plead the fifth,” Lauralee laughed into the other end of the phone.

So there they were: Dominic trying to explain the logistics of wrestling to Alex quite seriously, Alex as seriously trying to comprehend it, and Lauralee trying her best not to break out in laughter.

When wrestling was over, Dominic went to bed; Lauralee and Alex snuggled on the couch.

“Thanks for coming over here.  I’m sorry if Dom was bothering you.”

“Are you kidding?  He’s a great kid, and he gave me a good lesson.”

Lauralee laughed.  “You learn something new everyday.”

“He told me you have a crush on The Rock.”

“When?”

“When you were in the bathroom.”

She blushed a deep shade of red.  “Um…”

“Do I have some competition?”

“Maybe.”

“Well then, looks like I’m gonna have to be a wrestler.  What do you think?”

“Baby, you can sing you’re heart out, but you are no Rock.”

“I could kick his ass any day of the week!”

“You wish!”  Lauralee burst into a fit of laughter.

“Oh really?”

Lauralee laughed even harder.  Alex grabbed her and sat her on his lap, her legs straddling him.  “I could be good at other things.”

“Now I know what your name could be.” She put his arms around his neck.

“What?”

“The Horny Little Devil.”

Alex put his two fingers behind his head and wiggled them.  “I think I’ll have to test that out.  I’ll need a subject.”

“Who?”

“You’ll qualify,” Alex pulled her in for a kiss, his mouth wildly searching hers.  Lauralee wound her fingers through his hair as he trailed kisses down to her neck.  He laid her down on the couch, kissing her intensely.  Alex was about to remove her shirt, when they heard the door open.

“Hey Lau, I was…” Bianca stopped dead in her tracks.  Not only did the scene shock her, but also it was even more shocking that Lauralee was about to do it with a Backstreet Boy.

“Oh… my… God!” Bianca was on the verge of a shrieking fit, when Lauralee got up, ran quickly to her and cupped her mouth with her hand.

“Shh Bianca!  Dom’s sleeping!”  Lauralee said in a loud whisper.  “I’m gonna take my hand off, but you have to promise you’re not gonna scream or throw a fit, understand?”  Bianca nodded.  Lauralee took her hand off of her mouth.  “Have a seat.”

Bianca quietly sat down and Alex stood up.

“Alex, this is Bianca.  Bianca, this is Alex.”

“Nice to meet you.” Alex held out his hand.

“Um… yeah… nice to meet you too,” Bianca nervously shook Alex’s hand.  “When did this all happen?”

“It’s a long story,” Lauralee sighed.  Alex sat next to Lauralee.

“For how long?”

“Since June.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?” Bianca looked slightly hurt.

“Bianca, not a lot of people know about this.  So I’m gonna trust that you won’t say
anything.  Not your mom, your friends, anyone.  Understand?”

Bianca nodded.  “So that’s why you couldn’t hook me up with any college guys,” Bianca laughed.

Alex let out a sigh of relief.  “So Bianca, Lauralee tells me that you’re good at All-star Slam Dunk.”

“I’m the best.”

Alex laughed.  “I have friends like that.  You any good on the court?”

Lauralee motioned towards Bianca.  “Are you kidding?  She can mop the floor with anyone.”

“I’ll answer a challenge, anytime, any place,” Bianca folded her arms across her chest.

“I suck at it.”

“So it’s a sure thing that I’ll kick your ass then.”

Alex threw his hands in the air.  “I’m the first one to admit it.”

Bianca stood up.  “Well, I just wanted to come over and say hello.  I’ve got a killer history test tomorrow.  And don’t worry guys,” Bianca winked.  “Your secret is safe with me.”

Lauralee gave her a grateful hug.  “Thanks.”

“Nice to meet you AJ, I mean, Alex.”

“You too.”

“Bye.”

“Bye.” Alex and Lauralee watched her leave.

“She’s a cool kid.”

“Yeah she is.”

“Think she’ll blab?”

Lauralee thought about it for a moment.  “Nah, she’s cool.”  She put her arms around his neck.  “Now what were you saying about a subject?”

Without saying, he scooped her up and laid her down on the couch.

“Ooh, you are a little devil,” she whispered as Alex removed her shirt.
