This resulted in the Soviet seeing threat of the raptors force against f-14's and f-15's 1983- Was the year when the competing engine demo's started. The validation programmes started in the month of September in 1983 1985- Requests for proposals of the ATF which were issued in September. 1986- The selections for the testing began..
