After the Adventurers return to Castlewood, they will give their report and then rest, during which time the leaders and Teuer-Kan talk. They will call in the Adventurers and go into a Mission Impossible Routine.

"Men, uh, ladies...the North Country, the land stretching from the Rydall Sea up to the Barrier Mountains, is in serious trouble. It is being threatened by some unknown force, a force that has been behind a recent wave of assaults and attacks upon towns and villages in this section of the land. For several years now we have been aware of a growing number of disturbances involving various tribes of foul races, namely orcs, hobgoblins, and bugbears, but mainly seeming to involve the gnolls. These gnolls had previously been situated far to the North, where there was rarely any contact with them. But now they have begun raiding towns with great frequency, and, when we last received a report, they had moved so far down South that they were even assaulting the town of Woodside!

Duke Estillroy had sent several groups of carefully selected mercenaries into the hills where the gnolls had come from in an effort to find out what was the impetus, the motive that was causing this mass migration. But the few reports he received were inconclusive and showed nothing, except that there is a force of some kind driving these evil creatures.

Now normally, the best we could have done here was to build up our defenses and await the gnolls, and hold off as well as we can. But the gnolls apparently aren't going to reach this area for several months, so we thought we had plenty of time. Until about two months ago, when those blasted hill giants started their raids.

They've always been up there, but they never gave us any trouble, so we never bothered to chase them out. So we didn't notice they had been arming themselves, and now they have begun to raid our farms and outlying houses. And as if they weren't enough, we have heard reports to the east of Frost Giants acting up. And not just hill giants have been attacking us either. We've had reports of stone giants too, and also of some other kinds, some of them larger than anyone thought a giant could get.

Well, you can imagine the effect his is having on the residents of Castlewood. They are leaving the city in droves, and with good reason. From what we have been able to learn with the help of our late Seer, rest his soul, the giants are under the same motivational force as the gnolls are.

Now, what we have need of is a group of brave and experienced adventurers, a group that must deliver a sharp check to these giants, ones that must teach this clan of giants a harsh lesson that they would not soon forget. What this fearless and powerful party must also do is to follow any clues that are discovered if they point towards the sinister hand that is behind these uprisings.

The Duke has asked me to offer all of you a chance to save our country. Our leader, King Saranac, has been able to push back the forces to the south, but now the land is being threatened from his back by a more insidious evil power. You are being given an offer to save the North Country, your homeland from becoming a ruined wasteland.

If you choose to accept this offer, you are to be instructed that you shall keep any and all loot and valuables that you find, this to be your reward for the perils you shall face.

"Will you fight the Giants?"
