There is a reference to the Sword artifact in the Drowean literature:

"Then the mighty opponent Karlasahntuk appeared, bearing a sword that gleamed as of sunlight. Hurling himself into battle, the warrior laid waste to all who confronted him. Flashes of color illuminated the land, as if the sword itself was screaming in some arcane, twisted language. Many were our soldiers who fell before him. When it seemed as if the tide of battle might be turned against us, there appeared in our aid the Minions of the Prince. Terrible, fearful entities they were, screaming and howling with voices like the roar of dragons. And they fell upon Karlasahatuk. He, with his eyes blazing and screaming as if to frighten the very earth itself, utterly destroyed the first beast with a single blow of the mighty sword. The rest closed upon him and yet he continued to fight. In the end, despite his killing scores of the Minions, he was finally overcome and his body was thrown into a pit. The battle raged for several more hours, and then came a period of relative calm. Some of us went to the pit to examine the body of the gray warrior. But the pit was empty. No one had seen anyone go near it, and even the allies of Hell were angered at the loss of his body, and they set to destroying every tree they could find. This led to a renewal of the general battle."
