TWAS THE NIGHT..........HOUSTON STYLE
by Jana
Twas the night before Christmas in an office downtownour two favorite detectives were wearing a frown.
Fingerprinting was slow and they were still there
most likely would be all night, but nobody'd care
Holding was closed, and the staff seemed real denseThis made Lundy and LaFiamma more tense
Pacing wasn't helping, nor was yelling or threats
Lundy wished to go home and put on his sweats
When out in holdingthere arose such a clatter
They rushed from their chairs
to see what was the matter
Their thief was wheezing, making a dreadful noiseThrowing the tree and knocking over the toys
Officers were running and grabbing the thief
Not wanting to dictate a report to the chief.
As police scrambled the thief went for the doorand as quick as a flash he was on the first floor
Continuing to exit, he headed outside
then ran into santa, leaving no place to hide
Lundy caught up and spun the thief clear aroundLaFiamma came next and threw him to the ground
Then they marched him back inside cuffed up once again
They returned to the booking and paperwork sin
"Settle down partner, we'll get out of here real quick.""Lundy, your cheerful mood is making me sick."
"I've got things to do and some places to be,"
"Finally LaFiamma, I think we agree!"
"LaFiamma, now I don't know about youbut I'm sure that I have even more things to do.
I need to play Santa and let kids in my lap
I've even got last minute presents to wrap."
"Lundy that's wonderful, all well fine and goodbut this boy from Chicago is misunderstood.
There's a hole in my pocket from cash I must spend,
there's stockings to stuff and midnight mass to attend"
"It's ten thirty already I think you'll be lateNow isn't this Christmas just shaping up great?"
"Lundy I think you're a pain but you won't ruin my nightSeeing you dressed as Santa should prove a delight"
"Enough LaFiamma I want to get out
now don't look at me with that little boy pout"
"Is he booked yet, and have you called Joanne? Why do I always have to come up with a plan?"
"That's just like you LaFiamma, whining some more
Now just shut up and lets get on with this chore."
"Have it your way Lundy, and look here he's been bookedIf I don't get home the pasta will be overcooked.
They're taking him to jail and I can not wait
If it had taken longer we'd both have been late."
"I know Joe Bill and Esteban have been gone for hoursand Carole will have gotten our Christmas flowers.
Joanne has been to the clinic singing Christmas carols,
and Houston has been saved from some terrible perils."
"So I'll go to church and you go play SantaMaybe next year we should just go to Havana
But for now lets go home and just say with delight
Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight."
Happy Christmas allLove
