The Dog Nappers

Spring in St. Canard was a very pleasant thing in life.  You never know how you’re going to meet or what you’re going to do.  Life was joyous and calm.  Yeah, but that’s for the law abiding citizens of the city.  For everyone else, life was hell on a nice spring day.
Megavolt was walking down a barren deserted street; the bad part of town.  The growls a yapping of a small young pup grabbed the villain’s attention.  He followed the sound to a dark back alley where a thug was picking on this puppy.  Surprisingly, the pup was tough and was fighting back.  The thug admired that and just picked on the pup more and harder.  When Megavolt, undetected by either of them saw the larger thug hit the pup on the snout with his club and heard it whimper, then he did something.
“Hey!  Don’t do that!”
“Bug off shrimp!”
“I don’t think you know who you’re messing with!”
“Who cares!”
“I warned you and now you’re gonna get it!”  Megavolt proceeded to electrocute the thug.  As he lay sizzling, he picked up the pup, who was eternally grateful, and left.

Returning to the lighthouse Megavolt brought the pup inside and cleaned up the cut on its snout.  “You’re a lucky pup, y’ know?”
It just panted happily and wagged its tail.
“You want me to keep you?”
The young Brittany yapped happily, got up on its hind legs, placing his front paws on the rat and tried to lick him.  Megavolt laughed and started to think about a name for the puppy.  The prongs on his hat sparked and the dog watched, fascinated.  “How ‘bout I call you Sparky, so anyone who’ll be talking to me will get you!  I’ll call you Sparky! Okay?”
The dog yapped and chased its tail, sat down and panted, then scratched its ear then stopped and panted again.  Megavolt thought him to be so cute that he scooped up the pup and hugged it.

One year to the day later there was a street vender with a couple of dogs that he had trained himself to bark on cue to play a song.  Each dog had a different note for a bark and that is how it was accomplished.  Well, A cop came and chased him off the street corner and they retreated to their van.  “For my new symphony, I need one more note; on more dog.” The man thought aloud as he drove down the street.

Megavolt and his dog, Sparky, were playing Frisbee in an empty lot.  By accident the Frisbee went over the fence, then Sparky went over the fence to get the Frisbee.  He was barking joyously.  The man in the van heard this, and just so happened to be approaching Sparky.  “That’s it!!  That’s the note I need!!!  I’m gonna get that dog!!”
Megavolt was leaning on the end of the fence and watched his best friend play in the empty street.  Then he heard an approaching vehicle and he told Sparky to come, only the dog couldn’t hear him over the roar of the engine.  The van went faster and faster and at the last second Sparky turned to see the van heading right for him.  Stunned with shock, both Megavolt and Sparky couldn’t move!  All of a sudden a contraption came out of the roof of the van and snatched the dog right off the street and dropped him into the van.
“SPARKY!!!!!”  He ran into the road and tried to get the license plate of the vehicle, only it had none.  He ran to get his car and he took off after the van.  A cop realized that both were exceeding the speed limit and took off after them.

In the back of the van the other dogs growled threatening at Sparky.  He only cowered into a corner and whimpered, with his tail tucked between his legs.  “Shaddap back there!!!”  The man looked in his rear view mirror to see the two pursuers.  “Well, they wanna play follow the leader?  Let’s play follow the leader!”  He increased speed and zigzagged through traffic and the back roads and the narrow alleyways.  Darkwing Duck had also joined the chase because of Megavolt.
As the dog napper looked behind him to see his pursuers fall behind, he didn’t see the eighteen-wheeler pull across his path.  When he looked forward again it was too late to stop and he slammed in the side of the truck.  The other vehicles caught up in no time and stopped.  Megavolt jumped out of his battery car and ran over to the back of the van and melted the lock off the door.
Spectators had gathered to see the accident and what was going on next.  Megavolt opened the double doors and the dogs jumped out, ran a few feet away then turned around to see where their master was.  Still looking for Sparky, Megavolt climbed into the van and saw in the corner a cowering mass covered with blood and cuts and patches of missing fur.  “Sparky,” he said worriedly.  When Megavolt carried his dog out the police officer got the dog napper out of the driver’s seat.  Darkwing Duck stopped the villain in his tracks.  “And where do you think you’re going, Sparky?”  The dog barked once then laid his head back down on his master’s arm.
“Wha?”
“You dolt, he said home!  Didn’t you hear him!?” the electrical rat snapped and proceeded in stomping past Darkwing.  Megavolt managed to open the back seat door and placed his dog there on the seat.
