Nia hadn't really been handled when I got her, she was 1 year old, and we got to know each other ok, though she wouldn't allow anyone else to handle her. Unfortunately she died in October 2001, she was only 4 years old. Necropsy showed that she had cancer, and the stress of moving 750 miles, followed by the addition of a dog to the family just a few weeks later, was apparently too much for her. She will be missed.
I got Lily at 5 weeks old in January 2001, what a sweetie! She stayed with me pretty much constantly until she moved in with Leo, and she is very hand tame. The only small problem is that she seems to prefer me, her "tree" as a toilet, rather than messing up her cage!!!
Georgie is owned by Mike Conover, and is a bit of a grouch at the best of times, though she is also hand tame... she was 5 weeks old in August 2001.
As sugar gliders are great critters, but unusual and require a lot of care (it's much more like having a tiny dog or a big bird than it is like having a mouse or hamster), I'll leave it to the experts like the ISGA, Glidernet, GSGC, Pygmy Pets, and Sugarglider.com to inform you about SG's!
