Singapore Hit Awards 99 Leehom's Celine Dion's Junior
Lee Hom expressed his feelings last Saturday (9 October) on being nominated for the award.
"Of course I'm happy! A fan of mine already emailed me when I'm in the States. Besides informing me of my nominations, she ("that's me!"-sharon) also included many details! I later called Sony Music Taiwan to confirm this news, surprisingly, even the company and my mom did not know about it!"
"I'm very honoured to be nominated as this is my first time being nominated for this award Especially when the two awards I'm in recognises one's musical talents and singing technique. I'm more aprtial to those 'musical' awards rather than those 'entertainment shows'. Thus, I'm quite interested in attending the award ceremony."
Being nominated for 'Best Male Vocalist' and 'Best Producer', Leehom feels that the 'Best Producer' award is more meaningful. He explains, "Production is a very difficult process whereby one has to take many factors into consideration. Some of which includes selecting the songs for the album, the arrangement etc... this job is actually more important than a singer's one."
A sad fact is that this year, Leehom is just outside the border of the nominations for 'Most Popular Male Singer' award. Does he feel disappointed? "This award is acutally different from the rest of the awards. It depends on the public. I feel that if I continue making process in my music, I might get the chance to be nominated next time, maybe next year!"
