Lee Hom Loves Hong Kong

At the start of his music career, New York-born Leehom seldom did promotions outside of Taiwan. But now, he gets to travel around to all parts of Asia to do promos. In his words, "I'm really glad that after switching to Sony Music, the company has arranged for me to visit many places, like Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and China . This has not only allowed me to share my music with a wider audience, but has also given me the chance to see the world."

Among the many countries he has visited so far, Hong Kong is the one which has made the greatest impression on him. "I really love HK because the very first time I arrived there, there were already so many fans waiting at the airport for me. I was quite surprised to know that though I had never been there before, I already had so many supporters there."

But please don't be mistaken, Leehom doesn't just love HK for his many ardent fans there, but also for the place itself. "I've always admired the fact that HK's pop culture and the power of the media there has become a way of life there and that these 2 areas have been developed so well. Thus, I highly regard the HK market. HK also has many well-rounded artistes who can both act and sing, while this breed of entertainers is more rare in Taiwan. For singers, I respect Jacky Cheung because of his solid vocals and singing skills. As for actors, its Tony Leung. I thought he did a really good job in Wong Kar Wai's Chungking Express."

Okay, so since Leehom has expressed such a great interest in the HK market, what hopes does he have for his development here? "I hope to spend more time singing Cantonese songs. Of course, I have to take time to learn the language first but it shouldn't be too great a problem because I dare to practise speaking it and I believe that will help a lot."

So Leehom really does love HK, or else we wouldn't be seeing so much of him around town recently!
