The idea of this project was to take an everyday item and see that less really is more.

The first image is the original design.  I chose a playing card as the subject of my design while playing a game of Egyptian War with my housemates.  With its tiny details that can be easily overlooked, I thought it was a perfect choice for the project.

The next image is the same picture, zoomed in just enough that the subject can still be recognized.

The third image is zoomed in even more, now with no specific relationship between the subject matter and the original design, demonstrating the "Less is More" philosophy.  The focus is shifted towards themore intricate patters of the card, rather than the whole, stark, boring playing card.

For the next three images, I had to choose one of the images in the top row, then reverse the image's black and white areas (image 4), add one color (image 5), then produce the image in full color for the last design (which didn't necessarily have to be realistic, just visually interesting).
