Rai's lazy chocolate hearts recipe

The recipe below does not detail making the chocolates from scratch...more like a re-molding of the chocolate into heart shapes. You would need the following.....

    1 chocolate bar
1 plastic heart mold (makes 6 hearts)
    1 chopstick
    1 plastic sandwich bag
    scissors
    cutting board
    knife
    plate
    napkins
    microwave
    refrigerator

I chose Ghana milk chocolate as my main ingredient.

Unwrap the chocolate a bit and chop it up into little pieces. Unwrap more as you go along so you can hold the wrapped part and not touch the chocolate directly.

Once you have chopped up all the chocolate, put it in a plastic sandwich bag.

Put the sandwich bag in the microwave for 1 minute in 20 sec. intervals. My microwave is set at 750W so the time may vary. Check periodically to make sure all the chocolate has melted. Caution: contents are hot!

Once the chocolate has melted, press on a corner of the bag and snip the corner off with scissors. Then fill the mold with chocolate. Pour a small bit in each and circulate until the bag is empty and the mold is filled. That way, each mold will have generally the same amount of chocolate.

Use the chopstick and slowly stir the top of the chocolate in the mold to spread it out. Lift the chopstick from the middle of the heart.

Put the chocolate into the refrigerator for an hour. Once the chocolate has set, put it upside down on a plate and press gently on the heart itself. The chocolate should pop out easily.

Since I'm giving these chocolates as gifts, I had little boxes and cups for the candy. Avoid handling the chocolates directly. Use a tissue or napkin to touch them. Touching the chocolate directly will leave prints and marks on the surface.

You can substitute the milk chocolate bar with chocolate chips, but be sure to measure out 60 grams of chocolate chips. If you are using chocolate chips, you can skip the first part...which is cutting up the chocolate. ^-^ Some peope can also use a double boiler to melt the chocolates. A double boiler is two pots stacked on top of each other with water boiling on the bottom. The chocolate would go into the top pot and you would need to stir the chocolate on low heat to melt it. Caution: Chocolate burns very easily in both methods so be careful!
