February 26, 2006....Building sites and buying time.....

OMGosh, I didn't realize it had been so long since I updated here. Once again I have falled behind in keeping the sites up-to-date. I just completed creating another new site, which now brings my total count to 4. That take up so much time, and I guess everytime I think of starting a new one that fact seems to slip my mind. This latest endeavour brings to the internet a new and really cute new siggy shop. I really, really love siggies and don't always have the resources to buy them. So I made a completely free shoppe for other people like me. I really hope everyone enjoys it as much as I love creating the siggies. I have put a link to the shop on this site to try and generate interest.

Things here on the homefront have been really quiet. We are into counting down the DAYS until L will be home for leave. K is getting very excited and so am I. I am soooo glad he will be home for my birthday. I am already keeping my fingers crossed for good weather so we can get out and do some stuff, once he has adjusted to being home. I am also looking forward to the fact that he only has a few weeks left of this tour after he goes back. YAY...maybe then he can be home for a while. Knowing our luck he will be off on course again when he gets home. C'est la vie.

February 21, 2006....Ah, the squeals of Tax Time.....

Ah, the fun just never ends around here. I have spent the last few days working on stuff for our taxes. I really need to get off my butt and get that stuff in the mail. With a little luck we will have it back in time to pay off our living room set with a bit of a savings. WOO HOO...that would be so nice.

I am SOOOO happy I have added a really nice new feature to my blog. I am now offering a FREE monthly siggy to all my readers. You can find the spot to request it just under my ARCHIVES area in the right hand menu. If for some reason you are unable to view the right hand menu, there is also a link to that page in the NAVIGATION section in the left hand menu. I know, I know, too many hands and too many menus. I worked on the one for March for a few hours today and finally am able to offer it to you. Please make sure you read my "terms" to avoid any unneccesary confusion. But please feel free to take a peek at the page and help yourself to a siggy. I absolutely love doing them as they are so much fun. I hope you all love them too.

Besides all that not much else is new here. It's really been pretty quiet. It is kinda nice. Maybe I will get a chance to pamper myself if this keeps up.

February 19, 2006....Quiet, relaxing end to the weekend.....

Well, the weekend went off without a hitch. Saturday we went to our swimming lessons, then off to get me some new sneakers. My most favorite sneakers blew a big hole in the side when I went to put them on the other day. I am still recovering from the loss of them. Luckily I got some on a 50% off sale and new sandals to boot. WOO HOO. Anyone who knows me will atest to the fact that I wear sandals all year round. I guess it's a good thing I live somewhere where that is possible(most of the time). Then we headed off to run a few errands and over to DQ for icecream. OMGosh it was soooooo good. I haven't gone there in forever and I had to try the new Choco Cherry Love blizzard, which is soooo yummy.

Today was a quiet day. K and I just went for a drive and picked up some yummies. We stopped at Walmart and picked her up some new shirts and new jeans. They are so cute on her. She was happy as she got to play with the Little People cd machine. I think that is her favorite thing about going there. The rest of the day was quiet and K just watched her movie. I finished the housecleaning for the week and we had leftovers for dinner. I know, I know....way too much excitement. Tomorrow we have some birthday cards to mail out and I want to see what new movies are in at the video store. Hope you all had a great weekend.

By the way...
Which do you prefer?

Milk chocolate or dark chocolate? Milk chocolate...yum
Hard candies or chewy candies? Hard candies
Tootsie Pops or Blow Pops? Blow pops
Plain M&Ms or Peanut M&Ms? Peanut M&M's
Are you tempted by the candy display at the grocery store check-out? OMGosh, yes
What is your absolute favorite candy? I really don't have a favorite, I LOVE them all(almost). I think Cadbury Cream eggs are my fav though. Too bad you only get them at Easter.

February 16, 2006....Sad news today.....

Today was a relatively quiet day. K and I just bummed around the house and hung out together. Didn't really do much of anything. I got some housecleaning done and she got to watch some movies. I did however get to phone a friend I haven't talked to in a while. Mind you, the circumstances weren't the best but it was good to hear her cheery voice. She had an unfortunate miscarriage on the weekend. Poor girl, and her dh is in A'stan and really wants to come home. He will be getting his leave early though and they will be coming here to visit...I hope. YAY. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Hopefully L will get to call tonight. He said he was going to but I am not holding my breath. Now I am off to watch CSI and just chillout for a while. K is in bed and a load of wash is in the washer. YAY for me. Night all.

February 15, 2006....It just never seems to end.....

Well, today was errand/grocery day. We spent a good 4 1/2 hours out. K was really good and got to get a treat so she was happy. It is really sunny out so I took the top of the sandbox to let it dry out and let her out to play. She had a good time but with me in the house putting groceries away she kept leaving the yard. So I had to bring her inside, it was snack time anyway.

L got to call home yesterday afternoon which was really nice. They must have reserved the bulk of the phone time for family men to call home. We got our usual half hour and it was nice to just chat and not really have an agenda. Still counting down the garbage days until he is home.

I am always learning life lessons, whether it's one I've been taught before or not. And this is kind of a sad one. It's amazing how friends you truly trust everything with and do tons for will abuse and gossip behind your back. And not just to people in close relation to you, but I mean go out of their way and call people in other provinces to yak about you. UNREAL. This "phenomenon" never ceases to amaze me. And then, and here is the real kicker, they have NO IDEA why you are mad. UGH........whatever. I am too old and too busy to spend too much time giving it thought. I have to keep moving on and I guess my one consolation is, this world is small, and what goes around come around. I know, I know...very cliche but it seems to work.

Tuesday's Tales

Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? I do.
What is your fav memory of the day? Having a big couples romance party at my condo about 4 years ago.
If you celebrate.. what are your plans? This year, as the last few, dh is away. Dd and I had snacks and ordered take out.
If you do not celebrate… what do you do in lieu of? This is no applicable to me.

February 13, 2006....I just feel so.....

Ah, so I guess today turned out to be one of those feel bad for yourself days. I can only imagine tomorrow will be much the same. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one to complain or b*tch but I just wish dh was home. Oh only like 30 more days or something like that. I am not counting, I gave up on that a long time ago. Things are never that concrete in the military world, so I don't get myself all excited just in case I get let down. I just have to live with, "he'll be home when he's home". I have lots of people around, I just get lonely. :(

Dd and I are still keeping busy. We have some errands to run this week so hopefully this week will fly by. We have just been spending the last few days laying low. I need some "me" time so maybe I'll pop some popcorn and watch tv in my pjs early tonight, after dd is in bed. Maybe then I can get my thoughts together and feel less blah.

To all of you who have dh/df/dw/dwhatever at home for tomorrow, you are so very lucky. To those of you who don't, you're not alone. Happy V Day.

February 12, 2006....A Quiet Day.....

OMG with everything I have going on I am getting so burnt out. I really just need a few days to myself to recharge. I can't wait until dh is home for a few weeks, but on the other hand I don't just want to drop dd in his lap when he walks through the door. I knew in the beginning being a military wife would be hard and dh would be away quite a bit, I guess I just never realized it would be this often.

Though I am not a true single mom I really feel like it some days. I make all the day to day decisions, and even some of the major ones. Dh can only call about once a week so I have to run the house and make the choices that need to be made on my own. I ask for his input when I can but lately that seems to be less and less. I have tons of friends but they are at other bases, and some are even going through what I am right now. Thank goodness I have them to talk to on the phone. I would be totally NUTS if I didn't. Ah, just keep counting the weeks, it can't be that much longer. And at least I don't really have to worry about dh's tour being extended....it's not likely to happen.

Yesterday dd and I did some Mom/Daughter stuff. After swimming lessons, I took her out and she picked out her Valentine's toy from Nana and Papa. She got another Polly Pocket...surprise, surprise. Then I went to get tickets for today's showing of Curious George but she really wanted to stay and see it yesterday, so we did. It is a really cute movie and we had lots of fun. Right now, dd is upstairs playing with her new toys. She is a good kid.

By the Way Sunday

By the way... Will you be watching the coverage of the winter Olympics? Every once in a while.
If so, what is your favorite event or events to watch? Figure Skating and Downhill skiing.
Who are you rooting for? A country, a particular athlete? Canada, of course.
Have you ever attended an olympic event in person? No.
Do you have a favorite winter Olympian from years past? Kurt Browing and Elvis Stokjo.
If you could add a sport to the winter olympics, what would it be? I can't think of anything.

February 9, 2006....I am so forgetful.....

OMGosh I was so tired last night I forgot to do my Meme. I decided instead of having a seperate page for them I would just do whatever one rolled around the day I post here. So I will do today's and go from there.

Thursday Threesome:

Onesome--Premium - Have you paid for any access to web services? What services? What are they like? I have a membership to a site were the owner makes siggies. I love it and she is incredibly wonderful.
Twosome--Web - For the free stuff on the web, what is your favorite out there? What do you find yourself looking at everyday? I love siggies, adoptables, linkware, websets, etc. I am always updating and changing the looks of my websites so I love that stuff.
Threesome--Service - What goes on through your mind when you're out and get bad service from a restaurant or store? Do you let it slide off your back like ducks do to water? Or, do you make sure the business knows your dissatisfaction? I usually let it slide off my back and just not go there anymore.

February 8, 2006....I am BACK.....

Well, it is so great to finally be back and updating this site. I was soooo incredibly busy with the other site I run(between daily maintainence and a whole new layout overhaul), home stuff, documentary stuff, and the whole new layout and overhaul of this site. I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT. It took me a while to get everything up and running but I am sooooooo happy. There are lots of new features and things to check out. I ADORE everything from the layout, to the colors, to the graphics. EVERYTHING!!!! LOL

A few friends and I have been asked to participate in a documentary about the lives of military wives. I am thrilled to be able to be a part of it. We are only now in the early phases of awaiting grant approval and then go from there. Still, it is a lot of fun and I can't wait to be on tv sometime next year.

Dd is finally soother and crib free. WOO HOO. We are still having some minor stuggles but she is doing really well. We are gonna start working on the washroom training as time allows and as she is ready. We already have all the neeeded essentials and are trying to introduce them each day, just for a little bit.
