The new US 112 starts in Superior, WI along WI 35, and turns west across the Mississippi near Houlton. In Minnesota, it continues along MN 36 and MN 5 into downtown St. Paul. After doubling back on MN 55 (new US 212), it would take MN 13 from Mendota to Albert Lea. At Burnsville, US 112 would multiplex with the new US 65 through Albert Lea, MN and also Mason City, Iowa Falls and Des Moines, IA.
US 112 then breaks off US 65 south of Des Moines to replace IA 5 through Knoxville and Centerville. It would also supersede all of MO 5 throughout the Show Me State and end at US 412 in Mountain Home, AR. AR 5 would be truncated at Mountain Home.
This connection would better justify the existence of US 412.
